It’s only ten weeks to up my training miles considerably and add in lots of bike work. And this will be my first ever adventure race so I don’t know how I’ll cope with things like nutrition over the 2 days. Scarcely recovered from Friday – chopping onions still makes my fore-arms wince – I ran my first Dartmoor Runners. Race today and only added to the week’s tally of bad calls and hissy fits. Monday, 10 May 2010. Everytime I run in France I marvel at the wonderful playful atmosphere which surrounds their races. maybe its the events I choose, but they certainly are a blast. Wednesday, 14 April 2010. Measuring your progress: WAVA Age Grade Ratings. WAVA stands for World Association of Veteran Athletes. You can use your WAVA rating to give yourself a target and to calibrate your performance. It's a great way to make comparisons between runners of all ages. I follow my WAVA on Fetch currently my best score is around 70 for a cross country race - although I don't do quite so well in all races. If you register with Fetch. Over 90% - - World Class. Over 80% - - National Class.

Thursday, 28 October 2010. Flying with my Brompton. How do you do it, I hear you ask. I can pack bike in the case for long haul, just removing the saddle. I pack bits and pieces in the bag, laying the pannier on the top. The case is airnimal, but I can't track it down right now.
