Thursday, August 13, 2015. Tour Divide - Day 12. There was nothing hurried about this morning. As part of my "Brush Mountain Lodge experience" we had asked for breakfast at 7:30am, much to Kirsten's relief. I think she gets a few too many 4am departures and having gentlemans hours was a nice change. Kirsten presented Tom and I with freshly washed kit as well. It felt soo good to slide into clean kit and I am sure we were much more pleasant for others to be around as well! The climb took me into groves of...

A View from Above: April 2015

http://dave-livingthedream.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html

Tuesday, April 21, 2015. Flyboy Epic - Day 3. A slightly restless night's sleep was had again. It certainly wasn't a comfort or warmth issue as the Thermarest and my down bag are excellent bits of kit. No, plain old thirst and just being plain old and sore made for a sub optimal sleep. While I am anti Vitamin I if I can help it, perhaps I need to weigh up strategic use to balance against pain related insomnia? Another consideration for the race. As I slowly climbed Left Hand Branch road I worked my way p...

Friday, July 31, 2015. Tour Divide 2015 - Day 6. As I waited I felt my left heel. The slight swelling seemed to be gone and it didn't have a "squidgy" feel when I moved it. Good so far today. Well, the coffee went straight into the garden bed beneath it! 8:30 finally arrived and I was first into the post office to get my parcel. How does a package sent to a specific address get sent and held at another address? I began wondering how far all of the other riders had got last night. I figured they would...

Friday, June 12, 2015. Well, I made it through the travel process of Brisbane-Los Angeles-Calgary-Banff without too much trouble. I even managed to snag a business class seat on my Virgin Australia flight to LAX. That was very nice and a bit unexpected! While suffering through the haze of jet lag I managed to find a post office to mail some packages out to strategic points along the route. I hope I addressed them correctly! Simon from Beechworth and of course Mark from Brisbane. So Mick, Dave and I set o...

A View from Above: Tour Divide - Day 10

http://dave-livingthedream.blogspot.com/2015/08/tour-divide-day-10.html

Friday, August 7, 2015. Tour Divide - Day 10. I awoke to the high pitched beeping of my watch. It was stupid-early again and time to get pedalling. I pack up as quickly as I can and get moving in the early morning light. My overnight accommodation, while not quite 5 star, did the job. I had been warm and safe in there. More to the point, what do other people do? I was relieved to finally get onto the sealed road. I passed a few historic markers but didn't stop as I wanted breakfast. I paid a visit to the...

A View from Above: Tour Divide - 23 Days Out

http://dave-livingthedream.blogspot.com/2015/05/tour-divide-23-days-out.html

Wednesday, May 20, 2015. Tour Divide - 23 Days Out. Well, as the title suggests, I am only 23 days away from the start and a mere 15 days away from flying out to the US! The training has been going as well as can be expected. Some weeks feel good and others have been a bit well.blah but I guess I do need some recovery time. I should have been training with more routine from this time last year. It would have helped the fitness, however I think I may. Would have been kicked out of home though. ;). I have ...

Racing, riding and adventure by bike. 2013 AZTR 300: Day 2. Right, where was I? Oh, that’s right. I was in the middle of the desert all on my own. Thankfully, it remained pretty good and I soon passed under the I-10 and continued enjoying the early morning before the sun got too hot and I cooked. Early morning pre-sunrise - Finger over lens to convey sense of fatigue. Soon enough i was rolling along the main road towards Tuscon when I noticed a few bikes leaning against a fence at a service station. ...

Sunday, August 30, 2015. Well I think a ant is a critter. So I am out the door to go for a ride and move some pieces of bike stuff in the shed and am greeted with this staring me in the face. The little buggers have decided to come out of the rain and take up residence in all my stuff. Saddlebags - 2 sets of those. You name it and they are into it. 1 set of hard bags were locked up and they got into those somehow -so dont know if they are waterproof because there not ant proof. Links to this post. As my ...

Lions and Tigers

Saturday, December 5, 2009. Time for an update. 11 games into their rookie years, it's a decent time to reflect on theLions draft class of 2009, and to look forward to the 2010 draft. 2 Brandon Pettigrew- His rookie season is over, due to a knee injury on Thanksgiving. His play has been up and down, but does show first round ability. Has had an issue with dropping passes, but it doesn't seem to be a major issue. He's a solid player, but he needs to get back healthy. 6 Sammie Hill- For being a development...

In yesterday's post I described the events leading up to today's booked cardioversion. I'd had an ECG last Tuesday and the nurse and I examined it closely and sure enough the atrial fibrillation was there for all to see. And said "This is a normal heart rhythm. There's no way we will do a cardioversion on this".
