Welcome to Dave's .NET Blog. Some useful stuff that I've picked up along the way…. I’m a .NET developer / Project Manager from Manchester, England. I don’t claim to be anything special, in fact I like to think that I’m in the same boat as most developers. I’m keen on finding new ways to solve old problems and my whole career has been based around the Microsoft stack, so I won’t be posting much about anything else. Feedback is always welcome. Welcome to Dave's .NET Blog. Some useful stuff that I've picked up along the way…. September 21, 2011. As the project is in a UAT phase, there’s the usual stream of changes coming my way. From the multiple forms I’ve had back and the 60 “suggestions” that have come my way, I’ve actually identified 40 valid site changes that I’m ploughing my way through this week, before we (hopefully) go live on Monday. At least three users have searched the site for something like “perfume” (there are 1....Out of this f...

.NET Memory Consumption | Welcome to Dave's .NET Blog
https://davesdotnet.wordpress.com/2011/09/07/net-memory-consumption
Welcome to Dave's .NET Blog. Some useful stuff that I've picked up along the way…. September 7, 2011. Whenever I read about the C developers, and the Java developers, they seem to have to worry about memory management quite a lot. A friend of mine is currently working on an iPhone application, and it seems that 3/4 of his development time has been spent tracking memory leaks and such like. Well, until now anyway. So I had to think of a different approach. I really didn’t want to dump the objects of...
GZipStream Madness | Welcome to Dave's .NET Blog

Welcome to Dave's .NET Blog. Some useful stuff that I've picked up along the way…. September 6, 2011. Ok, so I’m working on a server application that runs once a night and downloads .gz files from various FTP / HTTP locations, de-compresses them and then processes their contents into a centralised database. To make it a little more interesting, I wrote one central processing component that acts purely on interfaces, and then each source / destination for the data just implements the interface. This issue...

While its anti-corrosive nature is extremely valuable, the most noticeable advantage is the way that …. Many building material...
