Encouraging and supporting participation in sporting events for the Seychellois people. A BRIEF HISTORY OF THE NSC. Organised Sports in the country started in 1977 through a Sports Department under the leadership of John Pillay as Senior Sports Officer; the Principal Secretary was late Ralph Adam and the Minister was Ogilvy Berlouis. In 1980 the Government decided to Regionalise Sports with the aim of having more people participating. 1980 was also Seychelles first participation in the Olympic Games.
