Episode 54: Phil is Still Wrong - /dev/hell

http://devhell.info/post/2015-01-13/phil-is-always-wrong

The Development Hell Podcast. Episode 54: Phil Is Still Wrong. Our latest episode was special in two ways: we recorded video of it, and it was a simulcast with our friends at the PHP Town Hall. Podcast. What great people! They’re still wrong, but that’s okay. We talk about mouthing off in public, whether async features should be built into PHP, and the appropriate ways to encourage people to use current versions of PHP. Then Chris gets mad. Check out our sponsors. Follow us on Twitter.

Episode 62: Talmudic Maxims for the Unwashed Masses (phptek 2015) - /dev/hell

http://devhell.info/post/2015-06-05/talmudic-maxims-for-the-unwashed-masses-phptek-2015

The Development Hell Podcast. Episode 62: Talmudic Maxims for the Unwashed Masses (Phptek 2015). Featured an awesome live recording of Development Hell in front of a rowdy audience. Our special guest Yitzchok Willroth, aka coderabbi, drops Talmudic knowledge on us, and we have great discussions about “hard” and “soft” talks, tech vs personal skills, and had a great Q&A session with the audience. We have two new sponsors for this episode. First is Pulse Storm. Next is Graph Story. Check out our sponsors.

With my friend Chris Hartjes. I wanted to blog about some of my experiences in planning the conference and reflect back on what brought me here. PHP Created This Monster — @TheKeyboard — The ramblings of a grumpy programmer

https://www.littlehart.net/atthekeyboard/2015/06/08/php-created-this-monster

PHP Created This Monster post. June 8th, 2015. PHP turns 20 years old today. What was once a collection of libraries created by a Danish-Canadian programmer. To make creating web sites easier is now powering a ridiculously high percentage of the internet. To all the PHP haters I say "CHECK THE SCOREBOARD". I had no idea that the decision to use PHP would end up being the thing that built a career that is now 18 years long and counting. That led me to figure out a way to go to my first PHP conference back...

Book Review -- Coders At Work — @TheKeyboard — The ramblings of a grumpy programmer

https://www.littlehart.net/atthekeyboard/2009/08/22/book-review-coders-at-work

Book Review - Coders At Work post. August 22nd, 2009. I was fortunate enough to get a sneak peek at Peter Seibel's Coders At Work. Mr Seibel has also previously written an award-winning book about Lisp called "Practical Common Lisp". With a pedigree like that, how could I ignore a book like this, despite my suspicion that those who understand Lisp are aliens from another planet? Next: What's In Chris' Brain - September 2009 Edition. Previous: So You Want To Telecommute? Part 4 - Programming Tools. There'...

php[tek] 2015 review — Source Maven

http://srcmvn.com/blog/2015/07/01/phptek-2015-review

Code Partition for Beau Simensen. I was happy to be a part of php[tek]. Again this year. I presented a tutorial, "Managing Dependencies with Composer". And I was a part of the "Open-source Summit". I sorta became a ghost just after my tutorial. After a week and a half of non-stop traveling and conferencing, I finally hit a wall. I started to get a sore throat and some sinus issues just after my tutorial and I spent most of the next few days sleeping it off. I think I'd like to work on this in the future.
