据 清代园林图录 称 “前翅雪在寒山，石壁峭立，明赵宦光凿山引泉，缘石壁而下，飞瀑如雪。 他感到这里“境野以幽，泉鸣而冷”，乾隆被这一美景迷住了，感悟动情，赞叹不已，“为之流连，为之倚吟”。 当年秋季，乾隆驻跸承德避暑山庄，意外地发现一“飞流漱峡”，川流不息，觉得这里比西山更像寒山千尺雪，让人在其侧构建了屋室，完工之后，乾隆又感到“天然之趣足矣，而尚未得松石古意”，还是不太满意。 乾隆十七年二月二十一日，乾隆巡幸盘山，游览静寄山庄西侧晾甲石附近的风光，见其下“汇万山之水而归于一壑”，“湍奏石面”，“籁响松巅”，酷似寒山千尺雪。 特别是飞流直下，“挟石以奔，触石以停”，“虽千夫撞洪钟有不足比其壮者”，更是赞叹不已。 千尺雪斋早已废弃，它是个什么样的建筑物呢 我们从 盘山千尺雪记 中“结庐三间”和几首 千尺雪 诗中有关“倚岩架白屋”、“白屋架池上”、“三间板阁虚窗静”中可以看出是三间依岩悬空、架在泉水之上的白色临时性建筑物。 在 千尺雪 诗中有“境佳泉必佳，竹炉亦更陈。 明代画家唐寅画过一幅品茶图，乾隆欣赏后写了一首 题唐寅品茶图 “千尺雪斋设竹罅，壁张伯虎品茶图，羡其稿致应输彼，笑此清闲何有吾。
