Diary of a New R.N.

Diary of a New R.N. Sunday, February 27, 2011. It Takes a Little Time. So don't worry, I am still here. I have so much to write about that I don't know where to begin. First and foremost, I am still enjoying my job as an RN. Does it suck sometimes? Am I exhausted when I get home? Do I want to cry from time to time? Would I change a single thing? I am always perky with a smile on my face. Why be glum? I have no clue but I can't imagine it can be any more emotional than my first six months has been. I am c...

Diary of a New R.N.: Back at Last

http://diaryofanewrn.blogspot.com/2010/10/back-at-last.html

Diary of a New R.N. Friday, October 29, 2010. I know it has been quite some time since you have heard from me. I gave birth to my second son Miles Robert Jesse on August 7th, so needless to say I have been off work since then and just returned last week. I must say, it was great being off for ten weeks but it is nice to finally be around adults! My first day back was a bit hairy. Of course they stuck me in the ICU! Please keep following my blog.I promise I will have more stories for you soon!

Diary of a New R.N. Monday, July 26, 2010. I haven't been a nurse for very long. I will come into contact with so many people I won't remember most of them. Saturday, July 17, 2010. Unfortunately for me, my ICU experience was cut by one day because my unborn son decided he wanted to try to come early. Luckily for him they stopped the contractions but I am supposed to take it easy until Monday. Tuesday is when I start my ER training. I am sure I will have LOTS to blog about when that starts! That is all I...

YarninCozy: December 2010

http://theyarnincozy.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html

Wednesday, December 8, 2010. Splurged on Yarn This Week. Had to have new yarn this week! I've been using a lot of my stash so I don't feel too guilty. A new yarn/quilt shop opened up in Lima, Ohio, and I wanted to check it out. I stopped by after my dental check up (everything's all good - such a relief after a year and a half of dentist visits to fix my teeth after a bicycle ride that ended in a face plant). I'm making cowls out of all three of these yarns. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Big Geek Knit Blog.

YarninCozy: January 2010

http://theyarnincozy.blogspot.com/2010_01_01_archive.html

Friday, January 1, 2010. I am in the process of knitting several projects, and I would like to promise a few posts, but every time I make that commitment, I get bombarded by a round of doctor's visits. I'm not making any promises, and I know that eventually the doctors' visits will fade away, and I'll get to spend some time on this blog. I have been more successful at keeping my ravelry account more up-to-date. Check it out: My name over there is yarninmama. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Big Geek Knit Blog.

YarninCozy: August 2009

http://theyarnincozy.blogspot.com/2009_08_01_archive.html

Monday, August 31, 2009. Although I made this in the spring, I plan on wearing this as the weather cools off. In the spirit of school starting, I thought I would post my "school clothes." This is the Split Neck T shirt for Women #257 by Diane Soucy from Knitting Pure and Simple. I made it out of Universal Yarn's Vanessa. Vanessa is a synthetic yarn that drapes so lovely. Did I tell you how much I love green? Friday, August 28, 2009. Frozen Key Lime Pie. Doesn't every cafe need a good pie recipe? I love k...

YarninCozy: July 2009

http://theyarnincozy.blogspot.com/2009_07_01_archive.html

Monday, July 20, 2009. I found this pattern on Ravelry here. Here is the next dishcloth that I made for my friend. I found the pattern on Ravelry here. It was a free download, and I just thought the effect was really cool. The blue yarn is cotton, but I'm not sure of the brand. The natural yarn is Peaches and Cream cotton. Chain an odd number of stitches the width desired. Single Crochet in the second chain from the hook, and then in each stitch across row. Chain one and then turn. Big Geek Knit Blog.

YarninCozy: January 2011

http://theyarnincozy.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html

Monday, January 3, 2011. My principle opinion is that a yarn should be fit to the project and the receiver. I like to use superwash wool or cotton acrylic (I like Lion Brand Cottonease) yarn for baby projects because these can be good yarns to knit with, they are soft to the skin, and they are washable. Baby projects made with non-washable yarn don't get used. What do you like to knit with? Saturday, January 1, 2011. Looking Forward to 2011 - Happy New Year's! What yarnin plans are you making for 2011?

Friday, February 20, 2009. Shell Baby Blanket - Crocheted Shells. Yarn: Bernat Baby Boucle in Dust of Pink and Violet Blossom. Pattern: Crochet Shell - I improvised this pattern. I alternated single crochet with 5 double crochets in one stitch. This boucle yarn is soft and nubby. It is easy to work with although it is difficult to pull out if you make a mistake, and if you pull too hard, it will break. This is a fairly mindless pattern repeat. It was a great project while watching tv. My forearm (which I...

YarninCozy: Looking Forward to 2011 - Happy New Year's !

http://theyarnincozy.blogspot.com/2011/01/looking-forward-to-2011-happy-new-years.html

Saturday, January 1, 2011. Looking Forward to 2011 - Happy New Year's! I have had a lull in knitting ideas, but I think they are starting to roll around in my head again so I hope to share more. I have made several cowls, and they are so much fun to design (playing with stitch patterns), make (knitting in the round) and wear (no scarf to come undone). Once these are finished, I've plans for 2011 involving at least a couple of cardigans, and the Missoni Inspired Chevron Blanket. Make your own badge here.

YarninCozy: December 2008

http://theyarnincozy.blogspot.com/2008_12_01_archive.html

Wednesday, December 3, 2008. A little knitting humor. Since I've been taking care of a sick child, I could use some humor . A woman is knitting as she drives (which is totally unsafe, and I don't advocate it). Pretty soon, her speed has crept all the way up to 95 mph- and she passes a parked police car. The car gives chase. Officer Bob turns on his siren, but the woman, oblivious, doesn't notice him. Finally, he pulls up alongside her car and yells, "Pull over! I found this here. Pattern: Moderne Baby Blanket found in Mason Dixon Knitting. Wednesday, January 21, 2009. Yarn: mostly Caron Simply Soft. Pattern: Holiday Fantasy Bolero in November 2007 issue of Crochet!
