http://nobus4us.blogspot.com/2011/08/your-very-own-pizza-parlor.html
No Bus 4 Us. The Insight and Insanity of the Molina Familys Homeschooling Adventure! Thursday, August 18, 2011. Your Very Own Pizza Parlor! When we went to the Children's Museum of the Desert, one of the things my kids loved was their pizza parlor. Here is a pic from that day. Emma's pizza at the museum. Well, we've been working on getting our store ready, but today when my older girls got to go somewhere special, Emma and I decided to get started on our very own pizza parlor. Here's how we did it. Next,...

Life on the Hill: School Readiness
http://ourfreerangelife.blogspot.com/2012/07/school-readiness.html
Life on the Hill. Friday, July 27, 2012. Has anyone read Penelope Trunk? She has both a career. Blog Her strict unschooling is often a little more than I can handle. (For example, she doesn't limit screen time.) But occasionally her posts really resonate with me, as is the case with today's post about kindergarten readiness. It's that time of year! August 5, 2012 at 2:39 PM. My son has some sensory issues, which we discovered/heard of in 2nd grade. I think his dad had/has them, too. Some things t...I hav...

Life on the Hill: Science in the Bluegrass
http://ourfreerangelife.blogspot.com/2012/08/science-in-bluegrass.html
Life on the Hill. Sunday, August 26, 2012. Science in the Bluegrass. Not everyone in Kentucky is an ignorant hillbilly, but there are some GOP lawmakers in the Bluegrass State who have done their part. To help perpetuate that particular stereotype by suggesting we lower our academic standards in science. In other words, they want creationism to be taught alongside evolution in biology, and they want it stressed that evolution is "just a theory.". In which he expresses his views on teaching evolution.

Life on the Hill: Drifting Toward Unschooling
http://ourfreerangelife.blogspot.com/2012/03/drifting-toward-unschooling.html
Life on the Hill. Wednesday, March 7, 2012. When I first researched homeschooling, I fell in love with the classical model presented in The Well-Trained Mind. All the books, the history, the logic, the math! Oh and don't forget the memory work, grammar, multiplication tables, geography, and spelling. This was right up my alley. my kind of learning. And while there are still many things I like about this model, I've sure thrown out a lot of the others. Does that have anything to do with the kind of book l...

Life on the Hill: My Sister
http://ourfreerangelife.blogspot.com/2011/12/my-sister.html
Life on the Hill. Friday, December 2, 2011. As an atheist, I understand the science behind schizophrenia and other mental illnesses. I know that a combination of genetics and environmental factors caused my sister's breakdown, and that severe mental illness runs in my dad's family. Is it comforting to know these things? Perhaps in the sense that knowing what causes it helps us better manage and watch for it. December 8, 2011 at 7:19 AM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Least Favorite Bible Quote.

Life on the Hill: Born in the USA
http://ourfreerangelife.blogspot.com/2012/07/born-in-usa.html
Life on the Hill. Tuesday, July 3, 2012. Born in the USA. When a whole nation is roaring Patriotism at the top of its voice, I am fain to explore the cleanness of its hands and purity of its heart. All that said, I am incredibly drawn to the secular values our nation was founded on. As I have begun reading the first chapters of Freethinkers: A History of American Secularism. Am I proud to be an American? There's a really great quote that's incorrectly attributed to Thomas Jefferson and that appears to ha...

No Bus 4 Us. The Insight and Insanity of the Molina Familys Homeschooling Adventure! Sunday, July 24, 2011. HOME INVASION: Part IV. The recoup time for that has taken a bit longer. I have been completely out-of-it for a week. I've been waking up late, feeling unrested, taking naps, still feeling unrested, and simply ignoring all the things crying out for attention (house, cooking, etc.). * sigh*. Cousins Madeline, Kellan and Hannah. Hannah and Caitlin, BFFs. Sweet couple, Matt and Leslie. Caitlin playing...

No Bus 4 Us: May 2011
http://nobus4us.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html
No Bus 4 Us. The Insight and Insanity of the Molina Familys Homeschooling Adventure! Wednesday, May 25, 2011. We {finally} did it! Little did I know that taking 5 kids out daily, or even weekly, in various types of weather, would be such a challenge. I guess I'm maybe just a bit lazy. And when it is the slightest bit chilly, my scrawny body gets COLD and doesn't want to leave the fireplace-warmed home for ANY reason. So, the thought of our lovely little nature walks fell by the wayside. Wide-eyed as she ...
