DW - Some Thoughts and Images. I Don’t Understand Some People! Posted by Dik Whibley. On October 6, 2013. Tagged: Cessna 208 Caravan. As the title says, I don’t understand some people! It was a lovely, sunny morning, so we decided to go to Headcorn (Lashenden) Aerodrome to watch the aircraft. There were quite a lot of people there but some of them were acting very strangely. They would dress up in multi-coloured suits and climb into a nice Cessna 208 Caravan. But why, oh, why did they do it? Enter your e...

DW - Some Thoughts and Images. A Run to Clun. Posted by Dik Whibley. On July 13, 2011. A short drive to the village/small town of Clun. We arrived mid-morning and thought it was closed! The place did gradually wake up and we found a number of little places of interest. Crossing the River Clun is by way of a ford. Sitting above the village are the ruins of Clun Castle. The climb was a good way to burn off a very nice lunch at the White Horse. More organised. They did start in the 1920’s mind you. Notify m...

Look out for my ramblings about my interests. Saturday, 30 June 2012. I have recently been given a collection of glass negatives. From what I have been told, the photographs were probably taken in a period from 1920 to 1945. I am hoping that some kind people may be able to help me date the photographs a little more accurately by looking at the fashions, hairstyles and uniforms together with a few locations. If you can help, please leave a comment. More images in the next couple of days. Links to this post.

Look out for my ramblings about my interests. Friday, 30 August 2013. When on holiday in Scotland my grandparents often stayed in the Gordon Arms Hotel in Tomintoul. I visited the village a few years ago and the hotel was closed but there was talk of it re-opening. Does anyone know if it did? These photos are from the early to mid-1960’s. The local Post Office and general stores was run by C.M.Ross and Sons. Just outside the village my grandad spotted a lady cutting peat for her cottage fire. Your commen...
