730 Days of Travel. Updates about my travels as I venture into the world of teaching at an International School! Friday, July 24, 2015. I had the chance to visit Chicago this summer, to help ensure our students and families made it to camp. We sent some students on scholarship to a camp held in Chicago, and my role was to ensure everyone was settled and registered for camp. I ended the trip with a quick visit with my aunt in the northern suburbs. Something to try next time! I spent 2.5 hours in the m...

730 Days of Travel. Updates about my travels as I venture into the world of teaching at an International School! Saturday, August 23, 2014. I still don't know how to pronounce Qatar. There was some debate over the pronunciation of the name of the country where I currently reside. To be honest, even everyone here pronounces it differently. I still lean towards more "cutter" vs. rhyming with guitar. So to those that I promised an answer to after I arrived, I still don't have one for you. From the event, I ...

http://mareenastravels.blogspot.com/2015/05/sports-in-doha.html
730 Days of Travel. Updates about my travels as I venture into the world of teaching at an International School! Monday, May 11, 2015. The last year has included some really incredible sporting events in Doha. The craziest part is that typically the entrance fee is very small or even free. Swimming Short Course World Championships. I also got a great photo of the Finnish relay team after their race. No one else spoke Finnish around me, so it was easy to get their attention :). View my complete profile.

730 Days of Travel. Updates about my travels as I venture into the world of teaching at an International School! Monday, July 6, 2015. A Few Days in Philly. I've had a chance to visit Pennsylvania on a few occasions, but only on the Pittsburgh end of the state. This time the annual ISTE conference took me to Philadelphia, where I was able to spend a few days touring the city in addition to the conference. Unfortunately, the weather was not on my side on the day we decided to walk around the city. I spent...

Bike rentals are available or you can walk/jog along the water. I followed his orders of no western food and learned about Lau Pa Sat - a market turned hawker center full of ...I spent t...

730 Days of Travel. Updates about my travels as I venture into the world of teaching at an International School! Monday, May 11, 2015. Teaching Conference with Sir Ken Robinson. Typically when your school hosts professional development with a group of nearby schools, you may have someone come present that the school wouldn't be able to afford alone. In Doha, we fly in Sir Ken Robinson. No big deal. These photos are from a session I attended on creating toys using simple mechanical elements. This happened...

730 Days of Travel. Updates about my travels as I venture into the world of teaching at an International School! Sunday, August 17, 2014. My first two days in Doha have been filled with so much to share! I have a kitchen with full fridge, oven, etc. a washer/dryer, a full bathroom with shower, a separate bedroom, and a living room and dining area. Someone comes and cleans, brings me fresh towels, etc. so I am quite content! That is where my school is located, as well. I went out for dinner with a co-work...
