Dolls by Hand: May 2015
http://dollsbyhand.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html
Sunday, May 17, 2015. Started my Entry for 2015 Hoffman Challenge. There is plenty of time to get her done - but what a relief to have her started! Figured out what pattern to use -La Femme by Arley Berryhill. Requested and received permission to use his pattern for my entry this year. Have a picture in my mind what she will look like. That is 50% of the whole process. And it comes in such wonderfully rich tones. Sunday, May 10, 2015. The story of my life lately is the lament of "Where has time gone"....

Dolls by Hand: Gold Pixling
http://dollsbyhand.blogspot.com/2015/02/gold-pixling.html
Wednesday, February 4, 2015. As a gift for entering the 2014 Hoffman Challenge I received a fat square of black and gold print. For January Dolls with Arty Attitudes challenge I made this little pixie - fairy dressed head to toe in gold. She has doe suede skin and yarn hair. Beads for eyes with eyelids and lashes. Gold wings left over from a prior project. The gold boots didn't fit and ripped out when I tried to force them on! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). By Hook, By Hand. A doll in the making.

Dolls by Hand: February 2014
http://dollsbyhand.blogspot.com/2014_02_01_archive.html
Sunday, February 23, 2014. I've been working on a 1st birthday dress by special request. Up to now, baby girls get heirloom style dresses, however, this one is just fun and by special request. Its nearly finished. Just want to add an embroidery to it to make it extra special for her. And then the zipper. For her birthday present I am making a doll. The doll is about 24 inches tall. Almost as big as baby girl. Started with the matching birthday dress! The dresses are nearly the same size! By Hook, By Hand.

Dolls by Hand: A New Find
http://dollsbyhand.blogspot.com/2015/02/a-new-find.html
Sunday, February 8, 2015. In my wanderings on the internet I found a new source for doll skin fabric. Hand Dyed Suede Look Fabric. PO Box 486, Brainerd, MN 56401. 8 8 8 . 2 9 8 . 0 9 6 7. Cherrywood fabrics have a very close weave and yet are not stiff. They have a nice selection of skin colors. Lots of other colors too! I will definitely order more of this fabric. Doll made with this wonderful fabric. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). By Hook, By Hand. Crochet Unmentionables for Virginia.

Dolls by Hand: November 2014
http://dollsbyhand.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
Sunday, November 16, 2014. I have been busy making little girl dresses and dolls! For Christmas each of my little girls gets a new dress from Gramma Bubbles. I have the first one nearly finished - just the zipper and snap left to do. This one my daughter found the picture and said "Oh isn't this cute! So I have been trying to replicate it without a pattern. Needs a belt I think. The second one my daughter in law bought a bonnet and asked " Can you make a dress to match? It will be fun. This pattern has m...

Dolls by Hand: August 2014
http://dollsbyhand.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html
Sunday, August 3, 2014. I found the cutest fabric with ladybugs and - bonus - it's a cotton-poly mix. Wash and Wear. Fortunately I purchased exactly enough to make two little girl dresses. AND I found that if I cut out the size five first then the size two - I can use the same pattern without having to copy the pattern. This was a really quick and easy pattern to make. One day each for the assembly, not counting the hand work. I am honored to be among some of the best doll makers in the world! I started ...

Dolls by Hand: July 2015
http://dollsbyhand.blogspot.com/2015_07_01_archive.html
Saturday, July 11, 2015. 2015 Hoffman Challenge Doll - Finished. When I saw the 2015 Hoffman fabric, I saw a belly dancer because of the dangly coins in the print. I added my own dangly coins for her costume and lots of beads. View from the back. My doll is named after Naima Okef who was a famous dancer in Egypt. Then I did it on the full fabric laying it on my cutting mat. Glue stuck to the mat! I hung it out to dry and got glue got in places I didn't want it and on the chiffon it showed. 2015 Hoffman C...
