Dollop of Cream: oatmeal chocolate cherry cookies
http://www.dollopofcream.com/2014/07/oatmeal-chocolate-cherry-cookies.html
Wednesday, July 16, 2014. Oatmeal chocolate cherry cookies. Oh, the power of a humble little cookie. I work at CBC Radio and with all the government cutbacks over the last little while, morale is low. One Thursday a couple weeks ago, we were all bracing for yet another lay off announcement. But that morning –. Before the announcement –. It was such a small thing but also such a big thing. It was a reminder that we are. Still doing good work and that people do care. And you know what? They baked up chewy ...

Dollop of Cream: honey orange cream
http://www.dollopofcream.com/2010/07/honey-orange-cream.html
Friday, July 2, 2010. I love you, but sometimes I neglect you. I pick you out, I bring you home, I use three tablespoons of you for a recipe, and then I desert you in the wilds of the fridge. I let you get pushed farther and farther in, until you are finally wedged against the back, hidden behind jars of peanut butter and a more interesting jam. Will you trust me to change my ways? Serves 4 to 6. 4 oz (125 g.) cream cheese. Zest of half an orange. 2 tbsp. milk. 1 tbsp. honey. Stir in the honey and vanill...

Dollop of Cream: kathleen claiborne's hot cakes
http://www.dollopofcream.com/2011/06/kathleen-claibornes-hot-cakes.html
Wednesday, June 29, 2011. Kathleen claiborne's hot cakes. In 1980, the New York Times was worried about the popularity of pancakes. Is it possible for a pancake to be ephemeral? I mean, this pancake has cornmeal in it, with crispy and buttery edges, but the inside – oh, the inside! 8211; the inside is so light it’s almost ephemeral. Seriously. This pancake – which is properly called a hot cake – almost lifts itself off my plate, it is so heavenly. I personally believe in pancakes. I grew up with both...

Dollop of Cream: penne with sausage and greens
http://www.dollopofcream.com/2012/06/penne-with-sausage-and-greens.html
Monday, June 25, 2012. Penne with sausage and greens. This was the winter of kale. This was the spring of kale. This is the early summer of kale. We have learned how to make kale chips and we have learned the secret to enjoying kale: chop it into very small, tiny, miniature pieces. Chopped like that, we ate it almost every week and hardly noticed. See those fine bits of kale and chard? You may be a kale fan. You may enjoy eating tough pieces of the same green leaf over and over again. We're not and don't.

Dollop of Cream: sun tea
http://www.dollopofcream.com/2011/07/sun-tea.html
Saturday, July 30, 2011. If you are a tea fanatic and you simply must drink tea every day, summer can pose a problem. Specifically, do you want to drink a hot cup of tea when your little third-floor flat is already crammed full of hot air and your legs actually stick together when they accidentally touch? What you want is a cold cup of tea. I have just the thing, which does not even involve plugging in a kettle to brew it. Her sun tea is so easy and mellow, you can manage it on even the hottest of days.

Dollop of Cream: quick zucchini sauté
http://www.dollopofcream.com/2014/06/quick-zucchini-saute.html
Wednesday, June 25, 2014. I first learned to cook zucchini this way last November. I can't seem to cook it any other way. I was hosting a book club potluck dinner where we were reading. Deb Perelman's recipes from Smitten Kitchen. I already make lots of Deb's recipes (hello, dilled potato and cucumber salad. But I wanted to try something new for the potluck. I was doubtful. I mean, four. Ingredients and you think it will be amazing? It is a very pleasing dish and possibly the best part –. As deb notes, y...

http://www.dollopofcream.com/2012/06/hop-go-fetch-it-pacific-rim-edition.html
Wednesday, June 20, 2012. Hop and go fetch it: pacific rim edition. That is a perfect lunch-time dessert. It's sticky jasmine rice with mango and coconut cream and it's divine. We ate it at the über-lovely Café Julia. In Honolulu (where I freely admit we ate five meals over the course of our nine-day stay). I have been travelling and it's now time for the Pacific Rim edition of hop and go fetch it. Hawaii, Vancouver, Victoria and Nanaimo. The restaurants include the exotic influences of Japanese.

Tuesday, July 7, 2015. Chicken coconut curry soup. This has been one of our top five weeknight soups for the past three years (thanks, Sheri! For some reason, we didn't break it out to serve at a dinner party until just a couple of weeks ago. One guest had been suffering from a terrible cough and I thought chicken soup was in order. It's a humble chicken soup and –. If you already have leftover chicken and rice –. It comes together very quickly indeed. Luckily, our dinner guests –. 2 tbsp. olive oil.

Tuesday, July 3, 2012. Salmon with warm tomato basil oil. Last week, I mentioned my love affair with Ricardo. Videos. (Luckily, Scott also loves the videos, so it's all above board.). This week, I'd like to tell you about the other chef I let pop into my world on a regular basis: Laura Calder. There are many reasons I love Laura. Let me count them for you. 1 She always wears dresses. 2 When she says "just a little bit of butter," she puts a huge. Bit of butter into the pan. We also tried this with a very...
