http://shaunstafford.blogspot.com/2015/02/swearing-in-boozers.html
Shaun Stafford's Putrid Underbelly. The home of Indie transgressive fiction .". Sunday, 1 February 2015. I dunno when it happened. When someone decided that it wasn't acceptable to swear in pubs. But it seems as though that's the way things are now. Of course, I was pissed, so I slipped on my best shit-eating grin and said something like, "What the fuck? The reply was, "I'm serious." And there was some allusion to there being other customers in the pub who didn't appreciate swearing. I dunno. Pubs, b...

Shaun Stafford's Putrid Underbelly: October 2014
http://shaunstafford.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html
Shaun Stafford's Putrid Underbelly. The home of Indie transgressive fiction .". Monday, 27 October 2014. Benjamin Beerenwinkel, for example, was one of my favourites. He was a writer with cancer. His coping mechanism? Alcohol and self-destruction. But the feedback I got was that he was this selfish guy, self-obsessed, someone you could really get to like. He did bad things and he blamed everyone else for them. Me, I thought he was a nice guy, but maybe I was biased. No one ever said. Does he deserve to b...

Shaun Stafford's Putrid Underbelly: Bad Reviews
http://shaunstafford.blogspot.com/2014/11/bad-reviews.html
Shaun Stafford's Putrid Underbelly. The home of Indie transgressive fiction .". Friday, 14 November 2014. Had my first bad review the other day. It was for "die Stunde X", an alternative history novel I wrote when I was 24/25. Incidentally, I've just finished writing the follow-up to it, but that's a whole different story. And remember - there has never been a monument to a critic. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Bang up or pay back. For the love of the devil. Go sober for october. The end of alice.

Shaun Stafford's Putrid Underbelly. The home of Indie transgressive fiction .". Monday, 21 July 2014. Well, the first draft of "Maggie's Children" is finished. This here is the first version of the cover. The book has taken me about 4 months to complete, but there's still a long way to go. It'll go through second and third drafts and then it'll get proof-read. As it is, it's not ready. It should be ready around September time, so keep watching this space. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). http://shaunstafford.blogspot.com/2014_02_01_archive.html
Shaun Stafford's Putrid Underbelly. The home of Indie transgressive fiction .". Saturday, 15 February 2014. Writing a novel is a monumental task. I should know. I've written a few. My last book, " Besotted. Now, in the past, I've written lots. Even during "Besotted", there were days when I wrote 10,000 words. I've generally been able to deliver the first draft of a full novel within 3-4 months. But as I said, it's a monumental task. Sunday, 9 February 2014. Sequels and series . You're gonna look a bit of...

Shaun Stafford's Putrid Underbelly: January 2015
http://shaunstafford.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
Shaun Stafford's Putrid Underbelly. The home of Indie transgressive fiction .". Wednesday, 21 January 2015. Being a writer . Someone much more famous than me, and probably a much better writer than me, said (and I'm paraphrasing here, because I can't remember the quote) that you can call yourself a writer when you use a royalty cheque to pay for your electricity bill. Well, in 2014, I achieved that a number of times. So officially, I can call myself a writer. Well, have you read any of my stuff? There is...

Shaun Stafford's Putrid Underbelly. The home of Indie transgressive fiction .". Tuesday, 17 June 2014. I Like Reading the Daily Mail, See . I like reading the Daily Mail, see. It tells me how things in the world are and how things in the world should be. There’s people out there who don’t like it. They find it offensive ‘cause they don’t agree. But the things they like, the things they say and read, perhaps they might be offensive to me. That’s why I like reading the Daily Mail, see? Sunday, 15 June 2014.

Shaun Stafford's Putrid Underbelly: April 2015
http://shaunstafford.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html
Shaun Stafford's Putrid Underbelly. The home of Indie transgressive fiction .". Sunday, 12 April 2015. How to fucking concentrate. I need to concentrate. I do need to concentrate. The thing is, most writers will churn out a book a year, and I used to think that was pretty poor. Three months to write, three months to edit, six months to publication. So surely two a year is better? Shit It's not easy being a writer . PS - I've not edited it. I'm sure there are mistakes . Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).
