Thoughts Musings Ramblings Writings Wanderings Wonderings in the life of Klevy. How to Play Safe with Plantains. The real reason for our visit to Ecuador. to show a group of about 30 community health workers in Borbon (the town I've been working in for the past 4 years) how to put condoms on bananas, and other assorted topics related to sexually transmitted diseases and family planning. Funny and life-saving at the same time. Keep up the GREAT work. And thanks so much for blogging from down there!

Thoughts Musings Ramblings Writings Wanderings Wonderings in the life of Klevy. I've been in Manhattan all week with Amanda. The sky is much smaller here than in Montana. The art, however, is much better. Sending love . let us know how it's going. August 21, 2007 at 12:38:00 AM PDT. Senorita, where are you now? We miss your posts. Not that I've been super-blogette either these past weeks - I guess it's the August news doldrums. Hope all is ok on your journey. August 31, 2007 at 1:00:00 AM PDT.

Thoughts Musings Ramblings Writings Wanderings Wonderings in the life of Klevy. I finally made it to Burning Man. After years of hearing about it, thinking about it, having tickets to go and then having plans get foiled by Labor Day weddings or my research schedule or being in some other country or some other calamity… I finally made my pilgrimage to the desert. It is an event like none other. Describing it can’t do it justice so I won’t even try. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Enter your email address:.

This year my sister Naomi didn't get to be the Queen of the 23rd of November just by virtue of being born on that day. Instead Sarah and I were asked to judge the beauty competition to choose the lovely lady to be the Reina del 23 de Noviembre for the town of Borbon. The evening started off with some entertainment, including a slithery performance by a young girl barely out of diapers.

Thoughts Musings Ramblings Writings Wanderings Wonderings in the life of Klevy. We have lost our friend Nathaniel to a motorbike accident in Indonesia. For the past two years he and Amanda were living the dream. Doing dissertation fieldwork and independent research, living in a small remote village in Kalimantan, they were doing what made them both feel most alive—meeting new people, understanding the world, sharing experiences. But we take a risk every time we get into our cars or cross the Bay Bridge.

Could it have been avoided if he hadn’t been out there in a remote “undeveloped” village? But we take a risk every time we get into our cars or cross the Bay Bridge.

This guy is a landowner holding up a photo of the dried out, channelized valley that used to be his ranch, and below him is the lush wetlands that now occupy the valley. The restoration project was a rare case of the state, the feds, and a landowner creating the proper incentives to create habitat on a bit of degraded land. Heidi came to visit!
