You may have lived through pain and suffering, but as soon as you put some distance between the said occurrence and then the recollection of it (3 weeks in this case), the pain subsides, the memories fade (a bit) and the memory removes some of the sting. A long hike day with amazing vista and a great (optional) rock scramble thrown in the mix – and then I BONKED. Bonking – hitting the wall, exhausted, fed up, done with it, fuck it! It took us 20 minutes of a mad rock scramble followed by 10 minutes at the top and another 15 minutes down. Totally awesome experience but scary to think one spill could have done us in.
