Kia Ora, Y'all! From the deep south of the U.S. to the deep south of New Zealand . Friday, January 1, 2010. Yes, it really is that pretty. I'm not trying to make you jealous. Okay, maybe just a little bit. This is the view from the front porch of house we rented at Lake Tekapo over the New Year. Outrageous. (I am not in the advertising business, but I cannot recommend Parkbrae Estates. A little hiking. A little porch sitting. Nice weather. Nice scenery. Good stuff. Lupines by the lake. Top of Mount John.

An Oregon Family Living in New Zealand. Wednesday, September 8, 2010. Aftershocks and more aftershocks and. Christchurch has never been seen as a big risk for a large earthquake. There is the Alpine Fault which runs along the spine of the South Island and is quite active. There are also the Porters Pass fault and the Hope fault which are a good distance from Christchurch. However, get this:. Are you effing kidding me? How unlucky are we to have been part of an event that hasn't happened for 16,000 years?

They don't even measure fish here in length but rather by the kilogram. I was into consistently 2 kilogram fish. That's big by my standards. As I was by myself, I was of course unable to get photos of any of these beautiful rainbows, but the scenery was not so bad either. Sunday, November 15, 2009. We had a splendid meal of veggie frittata.

An Oregon Family Living in New Zealand. Thursday, December 31, 2009. Forgive us for being poor bloggers. Cara arrived back on the 11th and went right back to work and we mostly have settled back into "normal" life in Aotearoa. The next day (Boxing Day, a new holiday for us yanks) was spent at the beach in Sumner, building sand castles and wa...

Wednesday, July 8, 2009. And Now We're Four. We decided last night to move our trip to August 2010 for a few reasons. The average high for BoP is 59 and the average low is in the mid-40s. It will be a fantastic break from the 100 degree temperature here in Texas in August! Since it is low season, the rates for the.
