St Patrick's Chapel, Whitesands, St Davids 2015. Between 4th and 22nd May 2015, Dyfed Archaeological Trust, in collaboration with the University of Sheffield will be undertaking a second phase of excavation at St Patrick's Chapel, Whitesands Bay. The chapel and early medieval cemetery, probably dating from the 6th to the 11th century, was first excavated in May 2014 after winter storms exposed a number of burials from the side of the sand dune, prompting the excavation. Perched on a mountainside on the western fringe of the Brecon Beacons National Park is a remarkable landscape of craggy cliffs, grassy humps and bumps and enigmatic ruins. For more than 200 years this beautiful place was a hive of industrial activity where limestone was quarried and processed to make lime. CALCH was a three year project which aimed to research the lime industry of the Black Mountain in Carmarthenshire and to improve access and interpretation to encourage new visitors to the area.

The club meets the first monday in the month, every month throughout the year at the Whitemill Inn, Nantgaredig Near Carmarthen. We normally have a guest speaker every month and this is a great way to socialise with other club members, get to know all about the club where we discuss past, present and upcoming issues.
