The re-building and enlargement of St. Wulfram's church after a major fire in 1222 was a process carried out over two and a half centuries or so, say from 1250 to 1500. This period covers most of the important styles of the Gothic era and so makes a tour of this church particularly instructive. How to Find Us. People of St Wulfram's. The oldest stained glass dates from the mid 19th century. During the next 120 years a rich variety of glass has been added. Very little is known of our medieval glass. Each window displays a style popular when commissioned providing dramatic variety. All are high quality and include work of Charles Kempe, John Hayward, Leonard Evetts and Harry Harvey. Notice how the the design of the glass has been affected by the window tracery. Victorian glass in a modern setting.

How to Find Us. Rebuilding of the Organ. People of St Wulfram's. An organ was installed in St. Wulfram's in 1640: it was removed soon afterwards as unacceptable to Puritan thought. The present organ, incorporating part of the Byfield organ of 1736, was built in 1906 in a fine oak case designed by Walter Tapper. The instrument was overhauled in 1950, completely rebuilt in 1972 and in 1993/4 when a fourth manual was added. See also a note on the organ.
