Weekly Wisdom | Grumpy Granny

Half a Hundred, Plus One. What I’m Reading. November 11, 2013. This week’s wisdom begins with the Taurus card, which was the Five of Pentacles (or Rainbows, since I automatically convert any traditional tarot card to my favorite Osho Zen Deck). Here’s what Jen’s interpretation says:. Fortunately, I’m not getting a cold, but the rest of it? Loss of job, home, security. Feeling “out in the cold.”. Well Could be be more accurate? Now for the questions and the time to be brutally honest. A Moment of Thanks.

Half a Hundred, Plus One. What I’m Reading. November 20, 2013. I was all set to write a scathing post about health care here today. Had my facts, my bill, all my ducks in a row and ready to let fly and blast away at the system, the craziness of it, the impossibility of trying to find out how much things cost before the happen to you, all of it. But I’m not going to write that post. Why? Because last night, I spent some time in the car listening to Abraham again. It’s true.). Because we do. Other peop...

Half a Hundred, Plus One. What I’m Reading. Half a Hundred, Plus One. In the interest of cleaning, minimizing and sea changes, I’ve revised my list to 51 new things. Maybe I’ll add more later. Maybe not. If this list generates additional questions, there’s an “ask” tab. Use it. 1 There’s something missing from my life right now, and I’m having a hard time figuring out what it is. 2 But it’s not stopping me from carrying on. 4 I love blogging. 13 When you ask people from other countries about their native...

Half a Hundred, Plus One. What I’m Reading. I love my morning walks around the park across the street. Although you can’t see it in the photo, at the moment this was taken, a forest fire was beginning on the east (left) peak in the photo. From 300 acres that day it grew to 9,000 the next day and is more than twice that now. Still burning. Recycle/reuse (old window to become an art piece with the quilt blocks below):. Vintage (hand-sewn quilt blocks):. Fruits/veggies (okra flower buds). Art, Art, ART!

Half a Hundred, Plus One. What I’m Reading. October 17, 2013. Say Hello To A Friend. I found out a while back that my dear friend Melanie. Melanie writes about wine (for now–I’m trying to convince her to turn to other subjects), and she’s very good at it. So jump over there and give her a read, leave her a comment and let her know I sent you. I promise you won’t be disappointed. October 16, 2013. Baby Steps, Again. I’m trying not to complain. I have nothing to complain about. All my needs a...I don’...

Half a Hundred, Plus One. What I’m Reading. December 1, 2013. Went to bed on Friday to find G surrounded by various books, one of which was this. But aren’t we grateful afterwards when we become tougher and wiser? I know I am. I am grateful for good dictators. I am grateful for OP notes. I am grateful for finding the document zoom function. I am grateful for a hug from my baby. I am grateful for toasted biscuits. I am grateful FB is not such a temptation anymore. I am grateful for good hearing. A friend ...

Monday, August 10, 2009. So glad THAT'S over! Don't get me wrong, she was a perfect house-guest, very polite, not at all demanding, didn't require a lot of entertaining and was content to hang around the house all week while we worked, but she has a habit of sleep-walking and talking and her arms and legs were everywhere in her sleep! Jardin de Fleurs: Outcast AKA Being True to Myself
http://avrilfleur.blogspot.com/2014/02/outcast-aka-being-true-to-myself.html
Sunday, February 16, 2014. Outcast AKA Being True to Myself. I am used to being unpopular amongst a certain demographic. Namely, conservative, white, heterosexual middle-aged/old males. And yet, there are still many people in my workplace, in my industry, in the labour/activist movement who are on the same page as me. I have friends and allies. Lots of them. My job has long hours. The company I work for is extremely successful and as a result, we are obligated to work 48 hours a week. So yes, we ...After...
