The Dartmouth Soundsystem: May 2009
http://laurenoostveen.blogspot.com/2009_05_01_archive.html
Reliving history and adjusting the ears of the rabbit. Tuesday, May 19, 2009. Disconnected and it feels so good. I have long suspected that my cat hated my laptop. probably because I pay attention to it when I should be showering her with attention/treats (mostly treats). This laptop has been scratched, slept on, clogged with fur, and generally abused by my cat for many months. I had my suspicions, but I didn't know how far she'd go. He discovered that the laptop's. Likely a combination of cat and gravity.

Reliving history and adjusting the ears of the rabbit. Thursday, February 19, 2009. The Silver Dart Takes Flight. So, you've heard of the Wright Brothers, but not J.A.D. McCurdy. Brush up on your Canadiana. And check out the Nova Scotia. To Canada's first pilot, who took to the air in the Silver Dart. On February 23rd, 1909, in Baddeck. The Silver Dart was Canada's answer to the Wright gliders. The skill and innovation of talented individuals like McCurdy. Said of the experience:. You see, whenever I sta...

Reliving history and adjusting the ears of the rabbit. Friday, February 26, 2010. They're* coming to get you, Barbara. Is giving me the fear. Not the often-clogged series of tubes (as best illustrated by a Windows 95 screensaver. But the virtual masses who are sharing the location of their homes, letting us know the exact moment they cross the bridge, and flooding my once pristine Twitter feed with instructions on how to find them. Social media tools already require a certain level of narcissism. You...

The Dartmouth Soundsystem: October 2009
http://laurenoostveen.blogspot.com/2009_10_01_archive.html
Reliving history and adjusting the ears of the rabbit. Thursday, October 22, 2009. Things That Are True. 1 Concert tickets are expensive. I have given chunks of my salary to Slayer (yes), Megadeth (awesome), Stone Temple Pilots (admittedly a little lame but WHATEVER, internet), and Aussie Pink Floyd Show (for the fourth time). Still speculating whether I'll make an appearance the English Beat show. Or get smuggled into Wilco. Time will tell. 2 Nocturne was awesome. This was a blast! 3 I like Halloween.

The Dartmouth Soundsystem: June 2009
http://laurenoostveen.blogspot.com/2009_06_01_archive.html
Reliving history and adjusting the ears of the rabbit. Wednesday, June 17, 2009. 6 months, 120 movies. This is my second year. Of attempting to log all of the movies I watch. It's harder than it sounds, and I am not sure if the mid-year total 120 is 100% accurate, but it's definitely better than last year's score of 140/12 months. I don't think I'm watching more movies, but I am more diligent about updating my list. Romance is still alive and well. The one weird Saturday where I watched Mad Max. May was ...

The Dartmouth Soundsystem: December 2009
http://laurenoostveen.blogspot.com/2009_12_01_archive.html
Reliving history and adjusting the ears of the rabbit. Friday, December 18, 2009. Overlit at parts and nonsensical, but I still like it. Monday, December 14, 2009. 1 My movie list. Has edged its way past 200. This is OK. Next year will be better. 2 Andrew and I put our diseased brains together to create a weird little 8mm film for the AFCOOP Super-8 Handmade Holiday Screening. Mysteriously, the Santa's body goes missing, and his mad scientist son has sworn revenge. What could possible happen next!

The Dartmouth Soundsystem: September 2009

Reliving history and adjusting the ears of the rabbit. Wednesday, September 23, 2009. Atlantic Film Festival Review: The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus. Can you put a price on your dreams? Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus. Has already gone down in history as being Heath Ledger. S last film. I expect that it will have a much wider audience because of this, and I'm happy that many will get to experience this adventure. It just might be Terry Gilliam. Has made a wager with the Devil ( Tom Waits. Although th...

The Dartmouth Soundsystem: January 2010
http://laurenoostveen.blogspot.com/2010_01_01_archive.html
Reliving history and adjusting the ears of the rabbit. Monday, January 11, 2010. Lauren vs. Winter. Worthwhile activities to combat the winter doldrums, also known as yes, it's Canada, but do try to leave your house. Beer and new media chat- come say "hi"! My one true love has returned, armed with a lawnmower. DEAD/ALIVE! In a less accessible part of Dartmouth, but I'm betting that won't hold back the crowds. An amazing short film, "Blood Shed", is playing as well. Pre-sale here. The amazing Ani Difranco.

Monday, May 11, 2009. Spring Carpets of Blossoming Green. Nova Scotia in spring, like all seasons, there is always something special. Living off the Atlantic coast, we get to see dramatic and swiftly shifting skies, raging tempests and a new patchwork of nature's art every day. Spring is no exception. Yes, spring in Nova Scotia, it's a heady mix. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Bay of Fundy Blog. NS Come to Life. East Coat By Choice. InfoMonkey - HFX News.
