Stitchery and Such: June 2015
http://stitcheryandsuch.blogspot.com/2015_06_01_archive.html
Saturday, June 27, 2015. Although there's been little crafting, there's been plenty of gardening! After consulting my gardening books and online guides, we visited the garden centre. You know that "high" you get from visiting a really nice yarn shop? Yeah, I get that way from visiting a good nursery. Love the feel and smell of soil between my fingers . . . and then there's the satisfaction of seeing the plants in their place. Wow! Detail of columbine flowers. Lots of shade loving perennials: columbine, b...

Sunday, March 22, 2015. Keeping Busy . . . When Mother Nature dances with Ol' Man Winter, you gotta keep busy, right? So I've been a good little crafter: my mitts are done! I started another project too: Simple Man Slippers. For my man. He's got big feet and his old ones are rather holey. I had been meaning to make the fella new ones, but I kept putting it off while I played with other distractions. With snow days and bad weather, I finally cast-on. Here's my latest WIP:. Phentex slipper and craft yarn.
Stitchery and Such: December 2014
http://stitcheryandsuch.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
Tuesday, December 30, 2014. So I finished the baby bib from. And I have mixed feelings. I like the way the variegated colour did not pool too badly and I love the circular shape; however, none too pleased with the neckline shaping and my confusion over the pattern instructions. I may or may not attempt a second one, but I think for now I'll attempt a beanie and some booties. Planning to use familiar patterns so that there's no confusion over instructions. Thursday, December 25, 2014. What do you think?
Stitchery and Such: Free Mitten Pattern
http://stitcheryandsuch.blogspot.com/p/free-pattern.html
Designed by DinaPurls (aka Acrylic-Girl). Although not strictly a "thrum mitten", this pattern combines worsted wool and roving to produce a thick, cushiony fabric- great for keeping hands toasty on a frigid winter's day. Fair warning: pattern has not been tested. Please leave comment below if you find an error or contact me through my Ravelry profile page. Every effort has been made to ensure the pattern below is accurate. Updated Dec 2011). Size 4mm DPNs (or size needed to obtain gauge). 5 sts per inch.
Stitchery and Such: Hemming Tutorial
http://stitcheryandsuch.blogspot.com/p/hemming-tutorial.html
I can sew- sort of and in a semi-straight line. I've devised a technique for hemming that is relatively painless for the sewing-impaired. 1) First have person wear the pants and then fold the pants up to the intended length. Pin in place. 2) Before cutting, use tape measure and mark off in one inch increments on the wrong side of the fabric (see example below). Depending how much has to be taken in, you can make marks on fabric at 2", 3" and 4 " from original. One inch increments on wrong side of fabric.
Stitchery and Such: February 2015
http://stitcheryandsuch.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
Monday, February 16, 2015. Storms, Shovels and Papers . . . I got nothing. Just bogged down with school work, non-napping toddlers and a whole lotta snow . . . . So as I work on my project and gather sources for an essay, think of me cuddled in the corner of the table, sipping tea as the wind howls outside my door . . . Monday, February 9, 2015. We endured Arctic temperatures only to face hours of heavy rain a few days later (Yeah, that's right: a day of rain! I kid you not! So how does a gal get through?
Stitchery and Such: January 2015
http://stitcheryandsuch.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
Sunday, January 25, 2015. Just in the nick of time! My nephew arrived on Thursday and he's a healthy- albeit sleepy- little boy. Completed hats, bib and booties. I hope he'll get some use of the booties, hats and bib (although I wish I had made more bibs). His parents appreciated the gifts. Off to finish some readings for my classes. Sunday, January 18, 2015. Not sure I had a great crafting year. It felt as if my productivity had greatly decreased. Did I even make much this past year? It hardly seems so.

Stitchery and Such: Almost There . . . !!!
http://stitcheryandsuch.blogspot.com/2015/07/almost-there.html
Sunday, July 5, 2015. Almost There . . ! Yup, I've been very good- a good little crafter! Last weekend I started working on a long-standing WIP from September 2010,. Bernat's Mystery Afghan Crochet-along. It's been sitting in a bag at the bottom of a basket, hidden in the back of the closet. I'm sure you have similar places in your own home- that place where discontinued or unfinished projects go to hide in shame. Almost an afghan - minus one square in the upper left hand corner. It'll take you to the en...

Eat Craft Live
A couple months ago, FH (future hubby) and I visited his grandparent’s in their condo in Florida. Soon-to-be grandma made this delicious. Enchilada casserole that was super easy and super tasty. The recipe went something like: layer 3 tortillas in pan, layer beans, layer sour cream, layer three more tortillas, layer chicken, layer cheese, layer cheese, layer three more tortillas. FH even agreed (after adding 3 cups of sour cream on top of his slice…). For only 250 calories. Sour cream, add cheese, bake, ...
