Edible Street

A food diary. Mostly. Wednesday, February 23, 2011. In the Shadow of the Mountain: Phoenix, Arizona. It’s been over a decade since my last visit to Phoenix, Arizona. My wife and I previously stayed at a resort in Scottsdale, where we spent an evening in the hotel bar serenaded by that most infamous “student” of Andrés Segovia. None other than Esteban. Yes, that Esteban from the endless HSN infomercials. Other than that, my strongest memory of that trip was failing to complete a hike up "A" Mountain.

Edible Street: Montreal, Quebec - Part II: The Meal For Which I Am Going To Hell

http://www.ediblestreet.blogspot.com/2010/12/montreal-quebec-part-ii-meal-for-which.html

A food diary. Mostly. Wednesday, December 29, 2010. Montreal, Quebec - Part II: The Meal For Which I Am Going To Hell. The other morning at our office holiday breakfast, someone was daring enough to bring scrapple. All of this reminded me of our meal in Montreal at Café DNA. 8220;I’m sorry, miss, did you just say ‘seal? The third course was a tradition offering of Belgian-style mussels. The dish didn’t resonate with me, as I’m spoiled by the mussels I can get in Carrboro, NC at Milltown. But the fourth c...

A food diary. Mostly. Monday, September 13, 2010. Montreal, Quebec - Part I: Vieux-Montreal. Places seemed familiar without being exactly recognizable… The food was also different, and substantially better and more memorable than before. I trusted Hilary’s instincts to try the Polish restaurant Stash Café. 200 Rue Saint-Paul West). I’m only vaguely familiar with Polish cuisine, apart from pierogi. If I had a complaint about the place (apart from the unusual seating/ordering/paying arrangements), it would...

Edible Street: Welcome to the Street

http://www.ediblestreet.blogspot.com/2010/05/welcome-to-street.html

A food diary. Mostly. Wednesday, May 26, 2010. Welcome to the Street. My six-word epitaph: "Lover of food, music and life". I've been fortunate to travel with my wife, Hilary, to a wonderful variety of places over the years. Even better, now I get to do so with my two sons in tow. When we travel, we're seeking out the unique, the regional specialty, the tasty dive. And I do love the entire spectrum, from the grease to the gourmet. Unless it's for Gino's East Pizza. In Chicago. Oh, baby, show me love.

Edible Stroud | Making Stroud Tastier

Thank you to all 13 of the lovely people who turned up to help plant bulbs and trees at Stratford Court last Thursday. We were so efficient and well staffed today it took less than an hour to plant three magnificent trees (a quince, a medlar and a hazel) and dozens of narcissi bulbs, so there was plenty of time to play football, eat apple pies, stick feathers in our hats, ride in wheelbarrows and chat about seed saving, social media and 2016. Hurrah! Hopefully some photographic evidence to follow soon.
