One of the cool things about kids. no matter how many situations you prepare and plan for they will always come up with some new way of getting into trouble. A lot of times relying on the rewards of a behavior in the classroom will not help the student actually learn the behavior. Instead, much like Pavlov's dogs, they will be conditioned and figure out that if they perform a certain behavior they will be rewared for it. This is also the same for punishments in the classroom. Although it is important to have control of your students in the classroom, it is also important to have a comfortable atmosphere for learning. I think it is impossible to have a comfortable atmosphere in the classroom if the teacher is way too strict. Instead you tend to find students closed off and not speakin because they are scared.
