Emma Barnes: Tumblr Poems and Sigourney Weaver

http://elbowsonthetable.blogspot.com/2013/09/tumblr-poems-and-sigourney-weaver.html

All the garbage of the world, unite! Tumblr Poems and Sigourney Weaver. These ones however are out there for a while. I thought I'd link you to them! Get High with The Trees Out. If you want to see some of my Sigourney Weaver stuff you can check out Hue &Cry 7, Cordite. And upcoming JAAM and 4th Floor. JAAM especially has been very generous with their selection from my submission and I'm looking forward to reading what sounds like a bumper issue. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Hue and Cry 7.

Emma Barnes: Angst and Slam Poetry

http://elbowsonthetable.blogspot.com/2011/08/angst-and-slam-poetry.html

All the garbage of the world, unite! Angst and Slam Poetry. I am going through a bit of poetry angst at the moment. Well, perhaps life angst. Those periods where you question what is going on, what you're doing, why you're doing what you're doing. It's pretty much the usual in my brain, but sometimes it gets a bit more, well, serious. Julia Deans did an amazing version of that song I've linked above. Much grittier and intense than the Ladi6 version I linked. Best song of the night in my opinion. In the s...

Emma Barnes: Best New Zealand Poems 2010

http://elbowsonthetable.blogspot.com/2011/04/yet-again-long-time-no-write.html

All the garbage of the world, unite! Best New Zealand Poems 2010. Oh poor little neglected blog. Sometimes I want to write in you, but mostly I don't. I am much more present on Twitter. A place where it's hard to go back in time and I exist mostly in the present. That's something I like. But amongst all this I've been published in Best New Zealand Poems 2010. I hope that the next time I have the occasion to write here it will be to talk about it being published. Labels: Best New Zealand Poems 2010.

Emma Barnes: What I've Been Up To

http://elbowsonthetable.blogspot.com/2011/08/what-ive-been-up-to.html

All the garbage of the world, unite! What I've Been Up To. I recently read at Te Papa as part of the annual Writers on Mondays. Series for the Best New Zealand Poems 2010. It did feel a bit weird reading a poem by someone who was also reading. But I sucked it up and got to read one of my favourite poems with the author in the room. That's pretty cool if you ask me. I've got a few other sessions I'm planning to go to from the Writers on Mondays series. It looks like there's some great stuff in there!

Emma Barnes: Reading

http://elbowsonthetable.blogspot.com/2010/09/reading.html

All the garbage of the world, unite! On the 1st of September I was the featured poet at Stand Up Poetry in Palmerston North. It was my first time being the main reader and it was basically awesome. My friends Johanna Aitchison and Helen Lehndorf had invited me up to read and eased me through the process by being encouraging and accommodating. I loved it of course, not being one to shy away from talking either about myself or my passions. Palmerston North City Library. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Laquo; Special school holiday post. October 15, 2009 by Helen Heath. So we finished classes yesterday and now have just over 3 weeks of editing before we hand in our books. Everyone is a bit nervous. There’s a point in labour called transition, you can tell you’re in it when you start whinging I can’t do it, I caaaaan’t! I never want to do this ever, ever again! I wonder if Chris (our teacher) sees herself as a midwife of books? And you are looking down at your ugly purple squished up crying bundle cover...

Laquo; Oh sweet neglected blog! November 29, 2009 by Helen Heath. Well I’ve been using WordPress for exactly two years and now I’m ready for a change. I had been looking at all the lovely Typepad blogs out there and was seriously considering trying one when Mr SYW suggested a Drupal site. We are big fans of Open Source software so it seemed like the logical step. When you go over to look at the new site. We are starting with a new New Zealand novel –. Somebody Loves Us All. Getting ready to go back to class | Show Your Workings

https://showyourworkings.wordpress.com/2009/07/08/getting-reading-to-go-back-to-class

Laquo; Mid year break. Special school holiday post. Getting ready to go back to class. July 8, 2009 by Helen Heath. Well, how did those weeks fly by so quickly? Next week we are back to our safe little cluster in class. Kay has sent out her next batch of poems for us to read (lovely) before we discuss in class and I’m getting reading to lead a discussion on how poets have been influenced by science, incorporated it into their use of form. I hope I can pull off two hours worth, gulp! Heh – the Phyli...

June 30, 2009 by Helen Heath. I’ve tried to do some different things to keep me going over the break, like watching some of the Lannan videos and listening to podcasts. I’ve also just spent a fab long weekend away with Emma, Meg, Francie and Mel from Damien’s class (and my mate Tina) for a bit of intensive reading and writing with a workshop atmosphere. It’s worked so far, I haven’t had time to miss class. A couple of my poems have been accepted for online journals. And soon to be released. I do angst ab...

All the garbage of the world, unite! More Tumblr Poems and SW is finished? I've got another couple of Tumblr poems for your reading pleasure:. I am a man. I've also had a good year for published works so I've updated the sidebar to reflect the new publications. A lot of them are online so you can go read those if you want to. Elbows on the Table

Elbows on the Table. Monday, March 21, 2011. Tea Time, Sans Tea. Saturday, January 8, 2011. A world without chocolate would be dreary! This morning I had the best cup of hot chocolate I have had in the city at Alice’s Tea Cup. About the only way to get me to go for a stroll in the winter time is to bribe me with a cup of coco. That steamy cup of chocolaty goodness just takes me back to being a kid, sledding, and then coming inside to a delicious cup of coco provided by my mom. Sunday, November 21, 2010.
