The life and times of an American in Germany
About – Watermelon & Weißwurst
https://elliegoestogermany.wordpress.com/about
The life and times of an American Mom in Germany. My name is Ellie and live in Nürnberg, Deutschland, with my hilarious German husband. I’m a pastry chef and a librarian. Also, I’m a bit of a writer (at least when I work at it). Here are some factoids about me, I:. Can be a bit of a homebody, and sometimes I get ideas to knit and paint. These are all very bad and dangerous ideas, and if I ever write that I’m thinking of taking up these hobbies, please remind me of this. Can talk about food, baking. c...
It’s Gray and Personal – Watermelon & Weißwurst
https://elliegoestogermany.wordpress.com/2014/11/04/its-gray-and-personal
The life and times of an American Mom in Germany. It’s Gray and Personal. Family and I was a walking ball of hurt. And then I cried. I cried so much, I never went back. But on the other hand, sometimes people are just assholes and I can’t change that. I can’t click with everyone, and I can’t force something that just won’t work. It’s been a long time! 12 thoughts on “ It’s Gray and Personal. 04/11/2014 at 10:28 pm. PS I’m still waiting on that Skype date…. 17/01/2015 at 11:20 am. Thank you so much! You w...
Thinking BIG – Watermelon & Weißwurst
https://elliegoestogermany.wordpress.com/2015/03/14/thinking-big
The life and times of an American Mom in Germany. But this is not the only improvement in my life; I’ve begun exercising like never before. Trying to get into shape, taking time to myself to feel healthier and better. And I owe it to my girl H over at Pilates Studio Nürnberg. If any of you are in NBG and like pilates/yoga/exercise, go check her out! Travel more, be exposed to all sorts of foreign languages, see her parents more too, and we can afford that life! I had and I’m alright! But yeah, we were po...
Copenhagen – Watermelon & Weißwurst
https://elliegoestogermany.wordpress.com/2014/10/07/copenhagen
The life and times of an American Mom in Germany. Copenhagen is magical. If you haven’t been there, you should go—- in fact, if you had planned on going to Paris, just skip that and go to Copenhagen. Not to say Paris isn’t fab, I’m sure it is, but can you find such friendly and English-speaking delightful people there? Stereotypically, with a heavy dose of generalization, no. But you can find all those things in Copenhagen! Got into CPH, and we were both pretty excited for this adventure. Flight 1 back w...
5 German Foods I Can Live Without – Watermelon & Weißwurst
https://elliegoestogermany.wordpress.com/2014/04/02/5-german-foods-i-can-live-without
The life and times of an American Mom in Germany. 5 German Foods I Can Live Without. This post was inspired by From Casinos to Castles who wrote about her top 5 German foods she despises (which you can find here. And I have to say, she surprised me with her list. Who can hate chocolate croissants, proper rouladen (yes with speck, pickles and a teensy bit of mustard– ewwwwww to eggs, they don’t belong in there! And as the German says, Spezzi? | Just another WordPress.com site
Just another WordPress.com site. Distilling life into a simple answer. December 26, 2014. After a couple weeks of reflection and summarization, this is the best attempt I have to answer what I learned while living abroad question. My favorite thing about traveling is that it makes me feel. Stepping into a city and wandering the streets I become aware that life in the city has been going great without me there, and will probably continue as usual, completely unaffected by my brief stay. Ellie Goes Solo | Just a little blog on my solo travels around the world .
Just a little blog on my solo travels around the world . September 12, 2015. As it is still winter here, it was definitely not sunbathing weather, but the water was just about warm to enough to dip our toes into. We weren’t the only ones enjoying the beach. Dog walkers, horse riders, quad bikes and off-road motorbikes were all out enjoying the sunshine. Hopefully the next time I visit this beach it will be on horseback! September 10, 2015. I think the best thing about wwoofing, is that I can spend a long...

Allie & The German | The life and times of an American in Germany
Allie and The German. The life and times of an American in Germany. A Sad, Humiliating Tale. So I wore my own thing. Now, at the beginning of the race, I stashed my phone in my sports bra because, well that’s a safe place for it. I pulled it out much to the surprise of a few elderly onlookers and called my husband. 8220;I can’t do this. They are all staring at me. I’ve never been so humiliated in my life.”. I met my husband and daughter, and I nearly collapsed into them. I dry sobbed. I wanted, a...For g...

Ellie Goes to London
Ellie Goes to London. Taking the quarter-life crisis global! Thursday, September 18, 2008. You know what might be kind of funny? If I continued to update this blog even though I'm not in London anymore. At the end of the day, when you Google my name, this is still where you are directed to. And at the end of the day, going to London was a metaphor my life, yada, yada. Try and try as I might, I can't win the war against making other blogs (like my new financial blog. OK I haven' t really tried. Well this ...
