We provide a wide range of activities. They include but are not limited to, card games, craft, quizzes, keep fit, and outings. Such activities would be geared to individual residents and if necessary, is offered on a one to one basis. The parish church of Colyford is within a walking distance and Holy Communion takes place regularly at the home. A peaceful and landscaped secluded garden provides a serene atmosphere and a perfect setting for those lazy summer days.

All accommodation is comfortably appointed and rooms are generally well above the average size. Whilst all rooms are arranged for single occupancy, some rooms are suitable for couples but special permission needs to be sought. Although all rooms are furnished to a high standard, residents are welcome to bring their own furniture and possessions with them to feel more relaxed and at home. Elmwood has a non-smoking policy.

Our philosophy is to offer a carefree lifestyle away from the burdens of household management. It has always been our main priority to provide kindly and personal care to enhance the dignity, privacy and independence of our residents. Elmwood has a team of trained staff, who aim to know the residents and their relatives personally, providing continuity of care. We are well supported by doctors in our area. We also have the services of visiting hairdressers and physiotherapists and chiropodist.
