One of the most fossil-rich and well known sites in paleoanthropology, the Hadar Research Area is located 300 km northeast of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The name Hadar derives from the nearby Kada Hadar tributary that feed into the Awash River. A thin greenbelt surrounding the Awash River is the only greenery among Hadar’s badlands of rolling hills and occasional desert scrub brush. Few plants can survive Hadar’s arid conditions, where temperatures routinely climb as high as 110ºF (40º C) during the day.

Russman's spot: Camping at Whitewater State Park
http://russmanspot.blogspot.com/2013/07/camping-at-whitewater-state-park.html
Camping at Whitewater State Park. Loving our new tent! First time in this site. It is huge and right on the water. Just feet from our site. Love how the groves are worn on the cliffs. The water is spring fed and icy cold. It takes a lot of encouragement to jump in! Some people have AWESOME set-ups! It was very cold for July! We could see our breath at night, so a big fire was welcome. Apple and camembert sammy. A tadpole that is almost done! Visiting St Charles library. On the way to St Charles. Boarding...

Russman's spot: October 2014

Hiking at Sand Point Frontenac State Park. Was not expecting this sign as the boardwalk typically floods in spring, and the water is currently not high. We didn't take this, our usual trail. On the return, we tried to find the boardwalk only to learn that it had been removed, and the trail no longer maintained. This was the only bit of it that we found. It looks to me that it will not be repaired and/or replaced. So many memories and great hikes here! Https:/ www.youtube.com/watch? Links to this post.
