Helping Myself - ✿herself
http://silentluciditi.livejournal.com/729962.html
Oct 9th, 2009 at 1:07 PM. When did I say that I didn’t want to help myself? Does anyone think I enjoy living my life like this? That I am unaware of what happens in my daily life, that I am ignorant of the mood swings and problems that accompany them? Do you really think I enjoy this? What the hell is that supposed to mean? Has nothing I have said or done shown that I am taking action, yes, for myself first? That I shouldn’t expect support or compassion? 2 comments Leave a comment. Musings of a Dinosaur.

Perspectives in public health. Perspectives on life, science, business, philosophy, and religion from one public health viewpoint. Saturday, February 11, 2012. Is being an academic a disabilty (part 2). The fancy term for knowing your own limits is "meta-cognition" - that is, what you know ABOUT what you know. When it comes to experts, the following errors are common:. Discourage, frown, and 'punish' disagreement. Escalate commitment when challenged. But that's anecdotal and just jealousy right? Crash Ri...

Perspectives in public health: He ain't heavy, father - he's my brother!

Perspectives in public health. Perspectives on life, science, business, philosophy, and religion from one public health viewpoint. Sunday, November 07, 2010. He ain't heavy, father - he's my brother! I was reflecting this morning, after flying out of Nelson and seeing all the sailboats, on the nature of sailboats and what insights those can give to community efforts to tap into existing winds of power in order to get where they are going. What's going on here that we can learn from? In my mind, there is ...

Perspectives in public health: The road to error - illustrated

Perspectives in public health. Perspectives on life, science, business, philosophy, and religion from one public health viewpoint. Wednesday, May 30, 2007. The road to error - illustrated. There are many different kinds of errors that organizational systems of humans can make, but one of the trickiest is directly related to the questions of "integrity", "transparency", and "prejudice." I want to relate these to the classic "swiss cheese" multi-layered defense system that James Reason. So, when a task tha...

A Hundred Indecisions: July 2007
http://timeyetfor.blogspot.com/2007_07_01_archive.html
Wednesday, July 25, 2007. I always have the best of intentions with exercise. I get a gym membership, go for a few weeks or months, and then just really. I think a possible solution would be to look for used machines, now that I am thinking this through with an eye toward frugality. We still need to clear out that space, but once it's free for us to get our elliptical, perhaps some other ambitious soul will be ready to jettison theirs. Links to this post. Wednesday, July 4, 2007. I find that I enjoy disc...
