The Blues arrive in Seattle. On July 17, 2009. After a slight delay, the travelling Blues party touched down in Seattle on Thursday afternoon in blistering heat. With news of Joe Cole’s operation before the departure ruling him out of flying, and Paulo Ferreira’s continued rehabilitation after cruciate ligament damage, it was an otherwise full squad that departed for America. Joe Cole hit by new injury. On July 16, 2009. Joe Cole has suffered a setback to his comeback from injury and will miss the club’s pre-season tour of the United States. A cruciate knee ligament injury in January ruled 27-year-old Cole out for the rest of the 2008/2009 season. He recently returned to training but suffered a small tear to his meniscus in the knee and has undergone surgery.
