Emily Goes East

Sunday, August 11, 2013. Then life threw me a curveball. I haven't written on here in quite a while, mainly because I've been so busy and, more recently, out of sheer confusion as I try to figure out my future plans. Please pray for me as I seek God's will for this next phase of my life - which may involve teaching English in South Korea or looking for a job in the States. I haven't been in the job-hunting world in a long time and it's pretty overwhelming! Love in Christ,. Links to this post. I teach kin...

Emily Goes East: Picture Time!

http://www.emilygoeseast.blogspot.com/2013/04/picture-time.html

Thursday, April 18, 2013. I teach kindergarten to these little troublemakers for about an hour on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. They all come to my banda. On this rainy day, after tramping from the clinic to my place in the rain and mud, they decided to cuddle up under a blanket for school. (Left to right: Stacey Kyalo, Jacob Okken, James Kyalo). Thankfully our guard Papa Lokwii came to the rescue right away and gave it a good sound beating, then chucked it into the trees. View my complete profile.

Emily Goes East: Day 13: a wonderful kind of exhaustion

http://www.emilygoeseast.blogspot.com/2013/01/day-13-wonderful-kind-of-exhaustionthe.html

Thursday, January 17, 2013. Day 13: a wonderful kind of exhaustion. What a fun day! I'm completely wiped out, but in the best way possible. The Tricarico family is back! Before lunch I did the reading (from Jerry Bridges book Respectable Sins). The field right behind us was burning (don't worry, we have a firebreak! And the smoke and ash were so thick in the air that I had to close my door and windows during the study so we wouldn't get smoked out. It still smells smokey in here, six hours later. As soon...

Emily Goes East: Day 10: Seriously Cheesy Music!

http://www.emilygoeseast.blogspot.com/2013/01/day-10-seriously-cheesy-music.html

Monday, January 14, 2013. Day 10: Seriously Cheesy Music! Today was a pretty great, average day. The Wright kids are currently studying the Age of Absolutism and we just read about the transition from baroque to classical music, so I busted out my Grove City College CivArts music and played them some Bach, Vivaldi, Beethoven and Haydn. [This was decidedly NOT cheesy music.]. January 19, 2013 at 10:56 AM. My heart will go on? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). I trust God with my life and know that He wi...

Emily Goes East: Day 1 (Again): In which I admit my failure.

http://www.emilygoeseast.blogspot.com/2013/03/day-1-again-in-which-i-admit-my-failure.html

Thursday, March 21, 2013. Day 1 (Again): In which I admit my failure. I'm back. No excuses. I'm a lazy bum. That about sums it up. Let's try to get this blog rolling again. I'm still aiming for 90 days of blogging. Since I totally failed, I'm starting over. Please keep me accountable! The other thing occupying a lot of brainwaves at the moment - I'm getting amped up for the RP Mission team, which will be arriving about two months from now! Alakara nooi (thank you very much)! Life Is Different For A Country Kid: Neat Ministries

http://lifeisdifferentforacountrykid.blogspot.com/2013/08/neat-ministries.html

Life Is Different For A Country Kid. Especially out in the desert. Tuesday, August 6, 2013. With the OPC outreach. She's part of a group of missionaries in Karamoja, Uganda. Life Is Different For A Country Kid: August 2013

http://lifeisdifferentforacountrykid.blogspot.com/2013_08_01_archive.html

Life Is Different For A Country Kid. Especially out in the desert. Wednesday, August 28, 2013. Remind me why we live in houses? Every time I head up North, the nomadic life of tents, temporary homes, and outdoor living sounds better and better. Sort of joking - but not really. Look at that open sky and those green trees! That's 29 miles of dirt road. And 44 miles of DIRT ROAD. Taken in Kanab, Utah! Mountains and clouds. I can't get enough of them. That was dehydrated. It was weird, but good. I wished all...

039;Round The Girdled Earth I Roam. FOLLOW EMILY UNGER '11 AS SHE TRAVELS TO CHINA, INDIA, FRANCE, AND PERU TO SEEK OUT DARTMOUTH STUDENTS AND ALUMS LIVING, WORKING, AND LEARNING ABROAD AND TELLS THEIR STORIES. July 10, 2015. Back in the States, 4 Months of Hard Work. I’ve been home for nearly four months now which is hard to believe. I ignorantly envisioned the end of my job as being my return home, but this summer has been a lesson in how much time it takes to process material collected abroad. 039;Rou...

Emily Goes Boxing | Trying not to flail about

On July 28, 2011. I slept on it. A really good test. And I still want this to be my last blog entry for “Emily Goes Boxing.”. It has nothing to do with Boxing. I am still totally into it. Totally. I was considering -Hey-don’t be so rigid. Just post something when you want to. But that’s not my style. I need to be rigid in order not to be….MAYBE, as a learning thing, that should be my next blog-to write what I want when I want to-blog. With this kind of writing-I don’t fear the THEN WHAT? The boxing stanc...

Emily Goes Day Dreaming. This is an intellectual spin off from Emily Goes Blogging. You can find Emily's original blog at http:/ emilygoesblogging17.blogspot.com. Sunday, August 4, 2013. You finally get on the ride and the attendant straps you in ever so carefully. This face should explain it all:. The countdown has begun.only a month left until scho...

Emily Goes For It | health, pregnancy, life with a toddler, a place for me

Emily Goes For It. Health, pregnancy, life with a toddler, a place for me. Recently, we have been here there and everywhere. I’ve crossed the Severn bridge more than I care to admit recently. It’s been an endless tirade of motorway trips. With all this travelling around it’s meant leaving the boys with other people to look after. I thought I had, but it’s now glaringly obvious I didn’t. The realisation that getting help so early on has really made a hell of a difference. I feel bad that I wasn’t as...

Emily in France

Saturday, June 27, 2015. The past six months have been spent dutifully practicing and preparing an audition program, writing a thesis proposal (in French), and nervously counting down the days until le concours d'entrée. Which was yesterday. The thing is, despite the crash-and-burn rejection, I don't. In short, what I thought would be a huge loss doesn't really feel that huge because my gains have been so much grander. Rejection happens, humiliating. Friday, March 6, 2015. Do you miss the US? Every time,...
