Work: Type Factory Submission Boards
http://emmawidnallwork.blogspot.com/2008/12/type-factory-submission-boards.html
Wednesday, 17 December 2008. Type Factory Submission Boards. These are the 6 submission boards I created for the Type Factory deadline today. I've chosen to produce 6 boards for this particular brief, as I was unsure how to submit this work, because there are so many different parts to this project. So I decided that producing 4 different 'sections', such as Museum, Cafe, Shop and Advertising would be the most appropriate and clearest way of presenting my final designs. This is my development board.

Thinking: October 2008
http://designstrategies.blogspot.com/2008_10_01_archive.html
Thursday, 16 October 2008. I plan to try some new things, or go back to techniques I've tried before and want to get back into. In particular screen printing and other useful print techniques I will benefit from. I definitely know I'm not interested in web based design, so using print method's is something I want to understand a lot more and get to know all the possible techniques available to me and apply it into my own work. Making sense of things without text, but symbols and diagrams perhaps? 2 CONTE...

Thinking: :: First Crit - Environmental Impact
http://designstrategies.blogspot.com/2008/11/first-crit-environmental-impact.html
Friday, 7 November 2008. First Crit - Environmental Impact. After this crit I feel much happier with the way I'm working, it's cleared up a few problems I was having with this brief but it's pushed me in the right direction. Here's some of the feedback I received. If possible try and stick to using one unit, to keep a kind of theme and save any confusion. Relate it to things people might understand better, ie "Every sheet of paper that is made releases the same harmful gases as a cow farting! Is there an...

Work: Legs Typeface
http://emmawidnallwork.blogspot.com/2009/01/legs-typeface.html
Tuesday, 6 January 2009. Produced this work as part of the first brief we were set in this third year, the 'Don't Panic' brief based on the word 'desire'. I started putting type together in this way just for the word 'want', but then decided I could take it further. It's not yet complete, as I've left the most difficult letter's until last.but you get the idea! My typeface so far. Six of the letter's still missing. A close up of the M. A close up of the 'h'. Thinking: Final Crit - Type Factory
http://designstrategies.blogspot.com/2008/12/final-crit-type-factory.html
Wednesday, 10 December 2008. Final Crit - Type Factory. For the final crit, as both of my other two briefs, "Environmental Impact of Design" and "10 things you should know about Graphic Design" are pretty much complete, "Type Factory" was the one and only I needed any feedback for. It is well on it's way, I've chosen 4 identity ideas to focus on and from the crit feedback, I wanted to come away with my final decision for the one I want to take forward and apply to 'stuff' in relation to the brief. The ty...

Work: Final Environmental Impact of Graphic Design
http://emmawidnallwork.blogspot.com/2008/12/final-environmental-impact-of-graphic.html
Wednesday, 17 December 2008. Final Environmental Impact of Graphic Design. This brief is finally complete! I gave up on screen printing it in mass production a long time ago, after my episode in screen print. But those one's that I did are still ok to use, even if they aren't exactly the same at the final final leaflet/poster. But this one shown here Is the final leaflet/poster 'design for environment'. Printed onto recycled paper. But in digital print this time. Then finally, the leaflet opens up into a...

Work: "Type Factory" Identity Ideas
http://emmawidnallwork.blogspot.com/2008/12/type-factory-identity-ideas.html
Tuesday, 2 December 2008. Type Factory" Identity Ideas. Here are some more identity ideas I've put together for my "Type Factory" brief. I really like them all and think they all have potential. The colours for each of them aren't final, just some ideas! This one is a combination of the pica chart and the bold text, with 'factory' backwards but still legible. Not too sure on the bright blue/cyan though. Still, I think the colour needs altering. I've done a few tests, and asked a couple of people how they...

Work: Appropriate application for Type Factory identity
http://emmawidnallwork.blogspot.com/2008/12/appropriate-application-for-type.html
Friday, 5 December 2008. Appropriate application for Type Factory identity. So, now I've had a go at producing more and more and more identity ideas for "Type Factory" but I'm unable to decide on one I like the most, and which is most appropriate. I've started applying it to some different applications and see how they work then! For each of them I've chosen to work with 4 of the identity designs that I produced yesterday, the 4 I like the most. Not really sure how appropriate this, but I think for a mus...
