http://emilybealinsouthafrica.blogspot.com/2009_11_01_archive.html
Emily in South Africa. Sunday, November 1, 2009. First, check out some pics of the new stadium in Cape Town (at night with the lights on! The Stadium was built to have sound-reducing panels that will decrease the sound that the surrounding neighborhoods can hear - the Stadium is in Green Point, close to the city center. So, back to the pros and cons:. And, what about the kids who don't live in those specific areas. But, what will happen when the world cup is over? And the jobs are gone? According to a fr...

Emily in South Africa: October 2009
http://emilybealinsouthafrica.blogspot.com/2009_10_01_archive.html
Emily in South Africa. Wednesday, October 21, 2009. Ten things I LOVE about South Africa (in no particular order). 10 The 9:30AM service at Good Shepard Church has a band and everyone sings and dances during worship. 9 I saw a whale! 8 The sunsets are beautiful - the sky is pink every night. 7 Delicious Pastries - When you visit someone's home they put out delicious treats and tea or coffee - you can't say no, even if you want to! 6 The use of the word, "man", like How's it man? Or really, man? View my c...

http://emilybealinsouthafrica.blogspot.com/2009/12/november-highlights.html
Emily in South Africa. Tuesday, December 1, 2009. It's been way too long since an update - I'm not really sure where to begin.I am going to share with you all a couple of highlights from the last month! 1 I was very blessed to be able to go and visit Robby, a good friend and fellow YASCer. We spent the afternoons at an after-school program, where Robby volunteers, helping kids with their homework and playing games. The After-school program is up in the mountains at an AMAZING monastery. 3 I returned from...

Emily in South Africa. Friday, July 16, 2010. World Cup Holiday Clubs! I cannot believe that the World Cup has come and gone and that everything went so well with the Holiday Clubs. Our goal for the clubs was to give kids a safe place to be during the day, feed them at least one meal, show them the love of Christ, and to have fun; it was a complete success! I remember worrying and praying, "how will this ever happen? And, it was amazing! The affect has been HUGE! Check out a few pics. New York Intern Pro...

Emily in South Africa: Are you related to Amy?
http://emilybealinsouthafrica.blogspot.com/2010/01/are-you-related-to-amy.html
Emily in South Africa. Wednesday, January 27, 2010. Are you related to Amy? That is the number one question I have been asked since I got here. When people hear that my last name is Beal, they want to know whether I am related to Amy Biehl. I can't tell you how many times I have been called Amy since I arrived. It's funny, at home people want to know if I am related to Jessica Biehl, and here Amy! 1984-1994 South Africa was ruled by the white minority under the Apartheid government. In the years leading ...
