John Paul has always enjoyed endurance sports, whilst at Uni he represented Newcastle in both rowing and Thai-kickboxing, climbed Mount Kilimanjaro and more recently has carried out both a marathon and the 3 peaks challenge without any prior training. JP will literally do anything for a charitable bet, past wagers have included carrying out 3 bungee jumps in nothing but his birthday suit and in -20 degrees summiting Kilimanjaro in only a leopard print thong! After the experience at the Fox and Franz Josef Glaciers we did not expect too much from a visit to Mount Cook but were taught differently. Apart from fantastic wide-open skies and snow-powdered mountains we were rewarded by close-up glacier views and lakes coloured in all shades of blue and turquoise. March 6, 2012.
