Monday, February 7, 2011. There are a few things that I've heard this week which made me really happy. kind of like Syrian polos (a drink with tons of mint and lemon juice) make me happy. I know that sounds silly but you have no idea how amazing a polo is on a hot summer day. And yes, I'm also dreaming of hot summer days. I really like your church, it's like going to my pilates class, I leave feeling so relaxed.". Belly laughing with a friend while listening to David Sedaris. Brooke, these are sweet....

Brooke in Amsterdam: May 2011
http://christensenamsterdam.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html
Tuesday, May 24, 2011. I went away last weekend to Berlin. It was grand. I'm trying to process. It was perfect timing to get away, following a couple exhausting weeks. I needed some new; new art, new museums, new food, new metro system, new conversations with old friends. And the time exceeded my expectations! 1) To walk around Berlin without. An open giant bottle of beer is so not cool. 3) Russian food is spectacular. 4) I managed to not eat one sausage. I'm okay with that. I'm not used to that. The las...

Brooke in Amsterdam: October 2010
http://christensenamsterdam.blogspot.com/2010_10_01_archive.html
Tuesday, October 26, 2010. Would you know how to intall this? And it would make me cringe thinking of them sitting on there. But yesterday, I did it! And man, did it feel great to get greasy fingers and and figure out how to install my brand spanking new bike rack (there's actually a better term for it, but it's slipping my mind). This has come after a few weeks of high "You can do it" moments for me! And only merged onto oncoming traffic once! Thanks for relishing my "you can do it" moments! They starte...

Brooke in Amsterdam: kids books and the dutch writers behind them
http://christensenamsterdam.blogspot.com/2011/02/kids-books-and-dutch-writers-behind.html
Sunday, February 27, 2011. Kids books and the dutch writers behind them. I promptly bought the book and have been enjoying reading them now in dutch. Check them out below:. Jesus and his followers. Abraham and the promise. So to complete my random blog entry I would say that dutch children's writers/illustrators may have the corner on the kid's lit market. Hurrah for the lovely language of double "e" words. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). A Cup of Vichyssoise. Bayt al-Sabaya (بيت الصبايا).

Brooke in Amsterdam: January 2011
http://christensenamsterdam.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html
Tuesday, January 25, 2011. Here's an article I thought very fascinating about the Grant Tour which Chinese tourists like to take of Europe. It brought a toe step closer a culture which based on my West coast/middle America/North African upbringing has been entirely unknown. Here's a link if you're interested:. And one more random article just for fun. if you're like me and find random bits of knowledge incredibly delightful (it's also from The Economist):. An elegy on the British pub. Brooke in Amsterdam: May 2010
http://christensenamsterdam.blogspot.com/2010_05_01_archive.html
Thursday, May 27, 2010. Sunday, May 16, 2010. We had our first baptism today at a lovely little Christian community house that had a super nice chapel, including the all important baptismal! I know Amsterdam is in need of new life from the weight of this trash, the Gulf of Mexico and the animals affected by the spill, and myself and the whole of the world. Noise and trash: reminders of the decadence of life and the need of a Savior. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). A Cup of Vichyssoise. Janno van der laan.
