Streams of living words. Friday, December 27, 2013. Follow-up essay: Postmodernism and Memento Mori. This post contains spoilers for those who haven't seen the movie Memento. Or read the short story “Memento Mori”. You can read the short story here. To pass my Modern Intellectual History course, I had to write an analysis of Jonathan Nolan's short story “Memento Mori”. Some may know about it, but it contains the concept from which his brother Christopher developed the memorable Memento. Jean-François Lyo...

Streams of living words: May 2014
http://art-of-joey.blogspot.com/2014_05_01_archive.html
Streams of living words. Wednesday, May 21, 2014. Almost the next decade. So my wife decided to go on and turn 30 today. . I was a little shocked at her eagerness and nonchalance to take it on. What a woman. No crying, no complaining, no worrying about her figure or looks. Of course, why should she? People still think she's 20! My other half just seems so happy to go on into life. I'm the one being foolish and unrealistic. Happy Birthday my sweet darling! Publié par J.T. Noels. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Streams of living words. Wednesday, January 02, 2013. Twilight - a(n informed? All the hype’s gonna go now. They’ll find, or indeed, I think they’ve already found something else to get kids excited about. Just as the Twilight “saga” replaced Harry Potter at the teeny box office, something else is going to come sell to younger audiences. Some people might read this (though I doubt they will actually read) and say “it’s just a flick, entertainment, and it’s fantasy! Where the reason is often to protect one...

Streams of living words: Begin Again - a Yes movie
http://art-of-joey.blogspot.com/2015/01/begin-again-yes-movie.html
Streams of living words. Thursday, January 15, 2015. Begin Again - a Yes movie. With a rom-com loving wife, I am occasionally on the lookout for good. Ones (as a film pathological buff I’m pretty much constantly. On the lookout for good movies, especially Asian ones). When this proves to be an almost impossible task, I settle for finding bearable. Ended, after a very pleasant 1h44 minutes, I cried out “YES! 8221; Let me tell you why. But ultimately, I yelled “YES”, because the movie ends with...

Streams of living words. Sunday, March 31, 2013. George Herbert, 1633 - Easter. Ise heart; thy Lord is risen. Sing his praise. Who takes thee by the hand, that thou likewise. With him mayst rise:. That, as his death calcined. Thee to dust,. His life may make thee gold, and much more, just. Awake, my lute. And struggle for thy part. With all thy art. The crosse taught all wood to resound his name,. Who bore the same. His stretched sinews taught all strings, what key. Is best to celebrate this most high day.

Notes on a Scandal: April 2010

Notes on a Scandal. Saturday, April 3, 2010. How did Jesus spend His Saturday? I've come across an interesting number of people who are confused, uncertain or wrongly taught about how Jesus spent the 36 hours from 3pm Friday afternoon to dawn on Sunday. Many believe he went to Hell, but this is not Biblical. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. Notes on a Scandal. Sunday, November 1, 2009. Beacon Touchpaper #16: "Forget-me-not.". Remember for my good, O my God, all that I have done for this people. Remember me, O my God, concerning this, and do not wipe out my good deeds that I have done. Remember this also in my favour, O my God, and spare me according to the greatness of your steadfast love. Remember me, O my God, for good. Neh 519, 13.14, 13.22, 13.31, all ESV). What's he really saying here? Is it a demonstration of arrogance in the man?
