Every Day Above Ground: 2/20/11 - 2/27/11

http://everydayaboveground.blogspot.com/2011_02_20_archive.html

Every Day Above Ground. Flights of fancy, random musings, reminders that every day above ground is a good day. Sunday, February 20, 2011. Does it matter what teachers make? In "Objection Overruled" someone disses teachers because they don't make much money. More often teachers are criticized because they make too much money. But the point of the article, to me, details why teachers are, at the very least, worth their paychecks. Objection Overruled by Taylor Mali. And I wish he hadn't done that (asked me ...

Every Day Above Ground. Flights of fancy, random musings, reminders that every day above ground is a good day. Saturday, January 2, 2010. In the midst of winter, I found, within me, an endless summer." Albert Camus. Winter should be a time of reflection and appreciation. I live in a warm home with running water and indoor plumbing; pioneers lived with neither. Medicines ward off winter illnesses so our children may survive into adulthood. Even in severe storms emergency services are available...I am play...

Every Day Above Ground: 4/18/10 - 4/25/10

http://everydayaboveground.blogspot.com/2010_04_18_archive.html

Every Day Above Ground. Flights of fancy, random musings, reminders that every day above ground is a good day. Thursday, April 22, 2010. Spring doesn't come easily to central Wisconsin. We have had a few days in the high 70's and even an 80 degree day. After surviving 5 months of winter, residents are panting for green grass, flowering trees, sunny daffodils, and blazing tulips. This branch is from an ornamental tree in my backyard. It is always exciting to see buds sprout out of dead looking branches.

Boomer Gran: June 2014

http://boomergran.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html

A baby-boomer grandmother muses about kids, politics, family, bigotry, religion, and whatever else triggers the synapses! Monday, June 30, 2014. Pilgrimage - June 30, 2014. I left there and drove north a few miles to Flamingo Jim's - one of our never-to-be-missed destinations on the Coast. They have everything from t-shirts to knick-knacks, not all flamingo related, but just a fun place to shop and pick up little odds and ends for ourselves and the grandkids. My final destination was Munson Creek Falls, ...

A baby-boomer grandmother muses about kids, politics, family, bigotry, religion, and whatever else triggers the synapses! Tuesday, April 29, 2014. April 29, 2011. I opened my eyes. Eight o'clock! Where was Jim with my morning cup of coffee? He never let me sleep this late, and since I'd fallen from his truck four days ago, he was especially solicitous, wanting to know how I was feeling, if I'd slept well, was I in pain. Something was wrong, really wrong. What train, honey? No," he said, showing a flash o...

A baby-boomer grandmother muses about kids, politics, family, bigotry, religion, and whatever else triggers the synapses! Tuesday, June 21, 2011. We were making plans to go to the Coast. To go clamming with friends. We were making plans to go to Yosemite,. So you could see El Capitan. We were making plans for another trip. To far away places. We were making plans to paint the house,. And tile the floors. And maybe find a new home to love as we do this one. You had a stroke. And give insulin shots. You re...

A baby-boomer grandmother muses about kids, politics, family, bigotry, religion, and whatever else triggers the synapses! Thursday, May 30, 2013. It's the little things. Here we are, two years later, and the only thing that doesn't change is that I keep being surprised by the changes! Lest you get the wrong idea, let me rush to say that I'm in no way wanting to hurry him out of this world! It's not a skill I ever wanted, but I certainly am thankful that I developed it! That was an eye-opener! Loved it&#4...

Boomer Gran: April 2012

A baby-boomer grandmother muses about kids, politics, family, bigotry, religion, and whatever else triggers the synapses! Saturday, April 21, 2012. One year. Fifty-two weeks. Anniversaries come around like that. They start with, "One week ago." or "One month ago." but eventually the weeks and months become a year, and we sit and wonder where the time went. How can it have been so long? How did it go by so quickly? I'd just visited my doctor, complaining of pain in my left leg. He'd ordered x-rays, gi...

Boomer Gran: Change

http://boomergran.blogspot.com/2012/09/change.html

A baby-boomer grandmother muses about kids, politics, family, bigotry, religion, and whatever else triggers the synapses! Saturday, September 15, 2012. Change is good, people say. Change can also be bad, sad, distressing. Change can even, I suppose, be neutral. On a more emotional level, I'm experiencing the almost daily change in how my life is ordered, and the ebb and flow of Jim's physical and mental limitations. That will never change. Every Day Above Ground

Every Day Above Ground. Flights of fancy, random musings, reminders that every day above ground is a good day. Wednesday, January 2, 2013. I tell people I don't make New Year's resolutions, but I always do. This year's resolutions include the typically annual "I want to lose weight" resolution. Yeah, yeah. But this year I actually have resolutions that may be achievable. (Don't even begin to explain to me how my losing weight resolution is reachable). 1 Write. Write letters, write my blog, write. Wednesday, 12 November 2014. Ah man, usual problem. Weeks fly by, and no new blog posts from me. I just seem to be busy a lot. What am I doing? Sometimes I don't know - the time just seems to speed past me whilst I stand still. But hey, actually, now I come to think of it, I did do a few things these past few weeks, so let me tell you about them. The first thing I did was a week's worth of workshops at. Salford Museum and Art Gallery. This was an opportunity I had applied for a few months ago. Now, he ha...
