Heute machten wir eine Akklimatisationstour ins Pachacota-Tal auf über 4000m Höhe. Das Wetter ist hier oben tagsüber angenehm warm, in der Sonne sogar heiss, aber es weht immer ein kühler Wind. Hier gibt es eine einmalige Besonderheit, eine Algarvenart, die Puya Raimundi Diese Algarven können bis zu 100 Jahre alt werden, blühen aber nur ein einziges mal. Morgen früh geht es nun los zum Alpamayo, d.h. wir werden uns erst in 10 Tagen wieder melden. 1 Teil der Expedition. Zusammen mit Alois im gleichen Bett!

Der Nevado Huascarán ist mit 6.768 Metern der höchste Berg Perus und der vierthöchste Berg Südamerikas. Der Berg besitzt neben dem Hauptgipfel Huascaran Sur die Gipfel Chopicalqui und Huascaran Norte. 1932 gelang einer deutsch-österreichischen Expedition die Erstbesteigung. Huascaran Norte soll bereits 1908 durch die US-Amerikanerin Annie Peck bestiegen worden sein.
