I posted a Mystery photo from Great Grandma's photo Album in hopes someone would be able to identify the man in the photo, I thought it may be a relation to my Great Grandfather due to some of the Smith facial features but wasn't sure, if so which Smith was he? On March 27 I was on Ancestry looking through photos of different tree's with the last name Smith and I came across this photo. Mary Ann Murray and George Smith.

http://spiritsoftheold.blogspot.com/2010/07/surname-saturday-imlah.html

Saturday, July 24, 2010. Scottish: variant of Imlach,. This very unusual surname is of Scottish origin, and derives from the Old Gaelic "imeallach" or "imleach", translating variously as "marginal land", or "marshy shore-land", and it was originally given as a topographical name to someone whose dwelling was located on a periphery or by the coastline. It is recorded as a surname in Aberdeen from 1402 onwards. In my search I have found the spelling as "Imlay" and "Imlah". Children of Mary and Cummin.

Wordless Wednesday Great Grandpa. Wednesday, February 02, 2011. Photos from those days look so different than the photos taken these days. Your great-grandfathers photo almost looks like a perfect drawing. I love his clear-eyed, direct gaze at the camera lens. Its almost like hes making eye contact with us. I also like his moustache! Thursday, February 03, 2011. Thanks Nancy :) even at the age of 84 he was still sporting the moustache, though not as bushy. I love his eyes as well so clear and happy.

Family History Fun

Saturday, May 8, 2010. Saturday Night Fun - Matrilineal line. I came across a couple tweets tonight about an exercise from Randy Seavers who's blog is here. Here is our mission! 1) List your matrilineal line - your mother, her mother, etc. back to the first identifiable mother. Note: this line is how your mitochondrial DNA was passed to you! 2) Tell us if you have had your mitochondrial DNA tested, and if so, which Haplogroup you are in. What a great activity on the eve of Mothers day! Links to this post.
