A self-proclaimed rust goddess shares treasured vintage finds and how to transform them with different distressing techniques. Monday, November 5, 2012. Bleaching Bottle Brush Trees. Distressing things are just second nature to me. Give me something new, and I will figure how to to make it vintage-looking. Several years ago I was cleaning the destruction left by Christmas and accidentally knocked some of my bottle brush trees into the bleach water. To my surprise, I loved them! First buy the cheapest bag...

A self-proclaimed rust goddess shares treasured vintage finds and how to transform them with different distressing techniques. Saturday, August 1, 2015. Gifts From Horror Monster. Soon Horror Monster will need a new name. This is a small portion of the items moved out this past week. Does not include the truckload I sent to the thrift shop. Three large wire golf ball baskets. Except for the few we use around the house, these are the last of the 150. Baskets I bought when a local golf range closed. As he ...

Old World Patina: February 2015
http://oldworldpatina.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
February 28, 2015. I have a little something different to share today. I love to do arts and crafts of all kinds and recently I learned how to make a Santos Shrine from scratch. After a world of struggling with my new creation I ended up with a piece that is totally unique in every way. I even painted an angel in patina to go with the shrine. I made her a crown just like the one on my patina princess. I decided to collage my shrine in antique book pages for a neutral yet artsy look. Gigi Harlan book arts.

http://distresseddonnadownhome.blogspot.com/2013/06/tattered-tags.html
A self-proclaimed rust goddess shares treasured vintage finds and how to transform them with different distressing techniques. Sunday, June 9, 2013. The over-abundance of rain has kept me indoors so I have been making tattered tags to replenish my supply. I know I have shared tags with you before, but here is the newest bunch. Of course, I used images from The Graphics Fairy - slightly altered over at Pic Monkey. AND there was torn cotton ribbons, stamping, and distressing involved. A nice grungy look.

Distressed Donna Down Home: Distressed and Yeller
http://distresseddonnadownhome.blogspot.com/2015/08/distressed-and-yeller.html
A self-proclaimed rust goddess shares treasured vintage finds and how to transform them with different distressing techniques. Tuesday, August 4, 2015. I am back to painting larger pieces - a cool spell - only in the middle 90's. The table had great details. So it became both distressed and yeller. Here it is - plain brown with a plasticized coat over the top. It is a nice piece of furniture - sturdy and well-built. I gently cleaned it - leaving the years of wax build up on it. Did NOT sand anything.

Distressed Donna Down Home: Hiding Behind the Door - Bookshelves!

A self-proclaimed rust goddess shares treasured vintage finds and how to transform them with different distressing techniques. Monday, September 2, 2013. Hiding Behind the Door - Bookshelves! My house was built back in 1950. It has quirky features since the owner tore out the middle of the house in 1960 to rearrange the rooms. One thing I do like is the space behind the doors. Plenty of hiding space. And we all know I certainly need hiding space. I am having a lot of trouble with that promise. Here it is...

http://distresseddonnadownhome.blogspot.com/2015/08/quickies.html
A self-proclaimed rust goddess shares treasured vintage finds and how to transform them with different distressing techniques. Sunday, August 2, 2015. I managed to squeeze in four quickies this week between straightening and restocking the booths, buying junk, and painting furniture. First a kitchen cabinet drawer. Painted white and distressed with a hand sander. Bought several packs of pretty paper napkins to use in projects. Separate the top layer and Mod Podge it. I wanted a slightly Asian design.

FEARLESS NESTING: October 2013
http://fearlessnesting.blogspot.com/2013_10_01_archive.html
Wednesday, October 23, 2013. Light of the World. Lately I find myself drawn to the richness of color found within those subtle shifts of hue. I seem to be paying more attention to how the light can change the entire mood of an object. Since finishing up my first Farragoz project that I shared with you here. But first, I wanted to show you some splashes of color we are still enjoying in our part of the world during our daily walks. Both of these were taken this past Sunday on Ocean Avenue in Sorrento.
