http://tadsbackupplan.blogspot.com/2015/02/friday-night-playlist-4.html
Mostly reviews of Strange Music and off-the-wall (usually music-related) books. Occasional fits of Nostalgia. Monday, February 16, 2015. Friday night playlist 4. Along with the usual recent stuff, lately it's been Philly Soul hits of the early '70s! About the O'Jays' "For the Love of Money" I'm less sure - I tend to have trouble with Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff's more "messagey" songs - but I quote from it almost every time someone brings a stack of winning Scratch tickets into the store. I thought in a b...

Mostly reviews of Strange Music and off-the-wall (usually music-related) books. Occasional fits of Nostalgia. Saturday, February 27, 2010. I predicted all this stuff yrs ago, in weak and undramatic science-fiction short-stories I couldn't sell 2 NE1. MayB I wasn't convincing enuf. Or mayB no1 could Blieve that w/ all the wonders we had heading R way in the optimistic not-2-distant future, people could still B counted upon 2 make the absolute worst of it. Ancient technology. Mostly reviews of Strange Music and off-the-wall (usually music-related) books. Occasional fits of Nostalgia. Sunday, August 1, 2010. Back to the Roots! When all else fails, try Nostalgia. The first 45-rpm single I remember ever having was Mitch Miller's "March from the River Kwai" on Columbia - on gold vinyl! Don't remember for sure how I got ahold of it. I seem to remember something about my Mom winning it in some radio-station contest on Boise's KBOI-AM. And: Nino Tempo and April Stevens' "Deep Purple...

My new Favorite Song Of All Time (until the next one comes along) is the Derek Trucks Band's "Down in the Flood," an old Bob Dylan song that's on the band's 2009 CD ALREADY FREE. It's freaking awesome, with lots of GREAT guitar, I can't stop playing it, and you should check it out. ALSO SOON: Remember when I used to write about music at this blog? HEY, BUY MY BOOKS!
