Sunday, 5 July 2015. One Two Twelve Kickstarter. Those of you are more observant may have noted that at the top of this page there is a link to 'My wife's art page': http:/ www.jackieduckworthart.co.uk/. If you are at all interested, please do take a look at the kickstarter page:. At least one of these will be inspired by our recent trip to Waterloo; she spent a lot of her time while there furiously sketching. Here are a couple of very quick sketches which she did of the bivouacs:. My wife's art page.

Wargaming Rediscovered: October 2015

Saturday, 24 October 2015. Quatre Bras - LFS. A little while ago (just before I went on holiday) I played this game, based on Quatre Bras using the Le Feu Sacre. Rules These rules have a lot going for them in my opinion and I was pleased with how well the game ran. In fact it's probably the most ambitious game I've done yet; I did stretch the play over two days playing solo. Here is a view from the Dutch side. Perponcher's Division is deployed to defend around Gemioncourt farm. The next turn saw the Fren...

Sunday, 8 May 2016. The Battle for the Peach Orchard. Here are a few. Pictures from yesterdays game at the Newmarket and Ely club. We were doing a refight of. The fight for the Peach Orchard in Sickles Salient (Gettysburg Day 2) using Regimental Fire and Fury rules. This was a pretty tight game; the scenario was well designed in terms of what we could get through in the time available. The Union held out against the confederates attack, though only just. Many thanks to Colin for putting the game on.

Wargaming Rediscovered: January 2015

Sunday, 25 January 2015. Local Buildings for Local Games. I did promise that I would put up a few pictures of the buildings which HACME. And here are a couple of photos of them with their friends which are 4-Ground buildings. I hope you will agree that together they should make a very respectable English village. Finally, thanks to my tame in-house photo-shop wizard who kindly volunteered to remove extraneous off-table 'clutter' from these shots. Thursday, 1 January 2015. End of Year Round-Up. In all I p...

Wargaming Rediscovered: June 2015

Friday, 26 June 2015. Waterloo 2015: The Battle. Mostly of these were taken with my telephoto lens, but even so the action still looks quite 'far-away'. I will no try to give a narrative; it did not follow the historic battle exactly. From where we were sitting could you see any not Prussians (or French starting positions or artillery). It was though pretty epic; not something I will forget in hurry. Enjoy. Tuesday, 23 June 2015. Waterloo 2015: Allied Bivouac. Cavalry in informal conference. Table servic...

Sunday, 19 October 2014. Like many on 'Planet Lard' I have bought a copy of the new Chain of Command supplement '29 Let's Go' this week. This is the first of Too Fat Lardies. Pint-sized' campaigns, so called because they are available for the princely sum £3.50, about the same as a pint of beer in a pub. So why did I buy it? All in all its fascinating stuff and excellent value too. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). A just-turned 50 wargamer living near Cambridge, UK. I rediscovered the hobby in 2008 after ...

Wargaming Rediscovered: March 2015
http://wargamingrediscovered.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
Sunday, 29 March 2015. General Bonaparte's Chain of Command. This is the working title of a new set of divisional scale Napoleonic rules from Too Fat Lardies (to be more precise they are by Darren Green, author of Le Feu Sacre and They Couldn't Hit an Elephant). The rules are heavily influenced by some of Chain of Command's command and control mechanisms but it is very definitely a different game. The French also deployed with two infantry brigades on the flanks plus their battery between the two, Here I...
