Life at Brookwood Shire. The Harvest Continues…. July 21, 2015. We had a lovely June this year and the cool weather plants all did well. We have been feasting on huge heads of broccoli, sweet tender lettuce, delicious peas, and bountiful kale, chard and spinach. But July turned hot. The spinach bolted as did the lettuce, and the peas faded. The broccoli is still producing some and the kale and chard are fine. But now the hot weather plants are coming.
