Real World Foster Care: Foster Care-Open Your Eyes
http://meganfilm150.blogspot.com/2009/05/foster-care-open-your-eyes_09.html
Real World Foster Care. I must say the first few weeks of this class were quite intense and I was very overwhelmed and had no idea what I had gotten myself into. I had even considered dropping this course because I just am not good with technology and all this creative making material. However, I changed my mind and decided to stick with it, mostly because I really liked the foster care aspect of the class. I thought it would be a fun little project working with kids, which I love, so I kept with it.

Kids Matter, Indeed: April 2009
http://dougskidsmatter.blogspot.com/2009_04_01_archive.html
Kids Matter, Indeed. Wednesday, April 29, 2009. I have been compiling research on training and have still yet to get an interview but Megan emailed me today and said she is working on that. Some questions I will pose in my interview are:. What is the average time one spends in training? Is there online training available? How do you train for disciplining kids? How do you deal with teaching of religion, if any is allowed? What is the basic outline of training? What all goes into it? And more to come.

Surveying Stereotypes.: Interview Part II.
http://surveyingstereotypes.blogspot.com/2009/04/interview-part-ii.html
Surveying Stereotypes within the Foster Care System. On the very first day at the beginning of the semester, our final projects were introduced. I’ll admit that I was a little intimidated. It was only the first class! It had only been in session for 30 minutes, and we were already talking about a finale for the next sixteen weeks of work. Talk about putting on the pressure. This clip is from the same interview with Patti Levy. Considering that I am investigating the stereotypes related to adolescents.

Transitioning Out Of Foster Care: April 2009
http://transitioningout.blogspot.com/2009_04_01_archive.html
Transitioning Out Of Foster Care. Wednesday, April 29, 2009. Visit To Kids Matter. These photos are from when I first visited Kids Matter at the end of March. I took the pictures to get a better feel for what Kids Matter was and what kind of place these kids had to aid them through transitioning out. I just learned how to do this so I wasn't able to get this done sooner. Thursday, April 23, 2009. Lending a Helping Hand. Http:/ www.jlmilw.org/community/signature.htm. Thursday, April 16, 2009.

FOSTERING PERSPECTIVE: At home, a little worried...Why do I not have a Mac?
http://mandaorlandini.blogspot.com/2009/04/at-home-little-worriedwhy-do-i-not-have.html
Thursday, April 30, 2009. At home, a little worried. Why do I not have a Mac? I'm a nurse, a nurse who follows doctor's orders. I like it that way. Now, mind you, I feel I could write the orders just as well as a doctor sometimes, but there are rules and reasons for orders. Is this why I like PC's? They are quick and get to the point? RAISING KINSHIP AWARENESS: May 2009
http://samiam-raisingkinshipawareness.blogspot.com/2009_05_01_archive.html
Monday, May 4, 2009. WHAT IS KINSHIP CARE. Nationally, kinship care is becoming a popular alternative to traditional foster arrangements, with more than 31 percent of all children in state custody being placed with relatives in 1992. North Carolina data for December 1995 showed that 2,344 children were placed with relatives, accounting for 18.5 percent of the children in care" (DHR, 1995).-children services practice notes. Children in public kinship care are less likely to have multiple placements, yet t...

RAISING KINSHIP AWARENESS: April 2009

Wednesday, April 29, 2009. Wednesday, April 8, 2009. IS BLOOD THICKER THAN WATER? The government wants adoptive/foster children to stay with their mom or dad first and foremost. If the child most be removed from said parent, the next step is to keep the child with another family member. but if this is so, why does non-relative foster parents receive more funding from the government versus relative? This is a very controversial topic and one of the big issues with the system. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).
