The Gear Head Zone: February 2006
http://gearheadzone.blogspot.com/2006_02_01_archive.html
The Gear Head Zone. Saturday, February 18, 2006. Unfortunately, I haven't written much lately. I had great plans to, but a bout of the flu (not just for me, but for my wife and daughter too), a major windstorm (and the associated fire department calls), and work commitments have all limited my time and energy to do so. Regardless, its time for a brief update. I got two fun gadgets for my truck this past week. The first was my Valentine's Day present from my wife: a Seidio G4850M Car Kit. That’s it for no...

The Gear Head Zone: March 2006
http://gearheadzone.blogspot.com/2006_03_01_archive.html
The Gear Head Zone. Sunday, March 12, 2006. I completed the installation of the Seidio G4850M cradle for my Treo 650 and the DLO TransCast DJ for my Dell DJ in my truck (2001 F-150 SuperCrew) today. In my efforts for a "clean" installation, the project ended up being a bit more involved than I had originally planned and took several hours last weekend plus about an hour today. Overall view of the various installations. View of the scanner, Minitor II charger and TransCast. While I was doing the wiring, I...

The Gear Head Zone: January 2006
http://gearheadzone.blogspot.com/2006_01_01_archive.html
The Gear Head Zone. Tuesday, January 03, 2006. Released their list of the "The 50 Greatest Gadgets of the Past 50 Years" last week. Same goes for the 1971 Phonemate Model 400, one of the first answering machines. Phonemate itself predicted that only businesses would buy the device, now most every home has an answering machine or voicemail. You can see the complete list for yourself at PC World - The 50 Greatest Gadgets of the Past 50 Years. Posted by Chris at 2:51 PM. Links to this post.

The Safety Zone: March 2006

Wednesday, March 15, 2006. Public Safety in Small Town America. Our police department has been undergoing a great deal of turmoil lately.the whole city has, in fact. The truth of the matter is that, despite its outward affluence, Sierra Madre is a relatively poor city. I don't mean that in the income of its residents, I mean that in the income of the city itself. But perhaps that's just me. Posted by Chris @ 10:51 PM. Links to this post. Saturday, March 11, 2006. Crew 1 Logo Tetrahedrons. The scan's a li...

The Gear Head Zone: December 2005
http://gearheadzone.blogspot.com/2005_12_01_archive.html
The Gear Head Zone. Friday, December 30, 2005. I've been searching awhile for a suitable entry into the blogosphere, and after a couple of hit-and-miss attempts, I think I've finally found it. One thing I love is, for lack of a better term, gadgets. Actually, its probably more realistic to say that I love USEFUL gadgets, though I prefer to use the more utilitarian term of "gear" (hence the name of this blog). I'm not talking about the "all this, and more! Posted by Chris at 8:14 PM. Links to this post.

The Safety Zone: May 2006
http://thesafetyzone.blogspot.com/2006_05_01_archive.html
Tuesday, May 09, 2006. Rough and Ready 2006 - Overview. I'm back from Rough and Ready 2006 (got back Sunday, in fact) and more or less recovered from the combination of physical labor and sleeping on a cot in a tent in the middle of a giant hanger. Because R&R was a three day event for me, I think I'll break each day down into a separate entry. Since the first day was mostly travel, it seems a good place to provide an overview of the exercise. Is now home to the Ames Research Center. On Thursday, DMAT te...
