Monday, August 29, 2011. My Day With The Dirtbags. Recently I'd read an article in a glossy, over priced climbing magazine called "American Dirtbag" by Andrew Bisharat, that posed the question of "What happened to all the true dirtbags? My Mountains: Conflicted
http://mymountainsoregon.blogspot.com/2013/03/conflicted.html
Sunday, March 17, 2013. Along the way, we have studied specific triggers to identify reasons for our shift to a more peaceful society. The most important, I feel, have been the formation of sovereign nations, the rise of gentle commerce, empathy, skepticism and reason, as well as various individual rights movements later in our history. In his book Leviathan. Hobbes writes about the nature of mankind, laws of nature, the sovereignty of nations, as well as laws and politics. His writings have become r...

http://mymountainsoregon.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html

The main goal is to keep weight down, but not skimp on safety. Comfort? Well, it depends, but it isn't a priority other than warmth and dryness. Closest thing I figured out for a check mark, √, indicates what I have covered. UltraLight tent, 2.5lbs or less. Sleeping pad √. Water Bottle √. Five St...

Monday, August 27, 2012. Tuesday, August 21, 2012. Finally made it back to Maiden Peak a few weeks ago, and it was a workout. Comes out to about 11 miles round trip with around 2800' vertical gain from the trailhead. Overall, a good hike, but it was the last straw for dealing with my hiking boots. They went back to REI the following weekend. Keeping it simple, I'm just posting pics. Not much to write about. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Places to Check Out. The Mountaineers Books page.
