Floating Robot: The Shoes (My Pretty Woman Moment)
http://floatingrobot.blogspot.com/2011/10/shoes-my-pretty-woman-moment.html
Sunday, October 23, 2011. The Shoes (My Pretty Woman Moment). Finding the perfect pair of wedding shoes was rough. Because my dress was short, I needed something that was going to look awesome but not too show-stealing. I found them, see? But it was tough work. I started with some really weird ideas about my shoes. I kind wanted either:. B bright yellow shoes. C something with suede. D all of the above. At a f-f-farm upstate. It's really pretty. There's goats? A farm, huh? I knew they would be The Ones.
Floating Robot: Beetlejuice Beetlejuice Beetlejuice
http://floatingrobot.blogspot.com/2011/10/beetlejuice-beetlejuice-beetlejuice.html
Monday, October 24, 2011. Due to the success of last year's foam board Halloween costumes. I decided it would be fun to try again this year with some inspiration from the very first PG-13 movie I ever saw. Beetlejuice made a pretty big impression on me, so this Halloween, Galen and I are going to be stretch-faced Adam and Barbara. I bought this shirt. For Galen, and I found a super rad flowery dress with shoulder pads from Daha Vintage. But the real fun was in the mask construction. Posted by Lesley Robin.
Floating Robot: What I've Been Up To
http://floatingrobot.blogspot.com/2012/05/what-ive-been-up-to.html
Saturday, May 12, 2012. What I've Been Up To. It's been awhile, so I'll get you up to speed on my adventures. In case you didn't know, I'm a famed photographer on Instagram. Now So far this year I:. Drank lots of cocktails, obviously. Went to Orlando to visit this dumb idiot. Shared a delightful afternoon with this cactus. I hope we meet again some day. Thought I saw a picture of Alex Scordelis. In a museum, but it turns out it was just Cindy Sherman. Bought this horrifying toy from Kid Robot. A cup of jo.
Floating Robot: No Pants 2K8
http://floatingrobot.blogspot.com/2008/01/no-pants-2k8.html
Sunday, January 13, 2008. On Saturday I participated in the 7th annual “No Pants Subway Ride” or No Pants 2K8. As it is better known. My friend Alex and I did this last year and had a ton of fun, so we knew we had to do it again. This is an event run by a group called improv everywhere. Alex and me with a pants-less comrade last year. After chatting it up with the MTA guy and giving my underwear a once over in the bathroom, we headed to the meeting point for No Pants 2K8. “Bring on the ocho! The train ri...
Floating Robot: No Pants 2K9 Snowstorm Party
http://floatingrobot.blogspot.com/2009/01/no-pants-2k9-snowstorm-party.html
Sunday, January 11, 2009. No Pants 2K9 Snowstorm Party. So this year's No Pants 2K9 was totally amazing. Improv Everywhere'. S Charlie Todd must have been proud because this year's attendance was a new record- I believe there were 1,300 people present. I wore a bright pink jacket and underwear with black, white and pink stores (it's VERY important to match your underwear to your outerwear for this event! Here is my pantsless afternoon in pictures, done up 24 style in honor of the season premiere. We got ...

Stubble Trouble: January 2008
http://stubbletrouble.blogspot.com/2008_01_01_archive.html
Monday, January 14, 2008. In Japan, you run the risk of being ostracized by society at large if your cell phone isn't adorned with at least a few kilograms of beads, charms and trinkets. Here's a photo I took of a girl on the subway using one of the gaudier such phones, complete with a heart-shaped mirror and some frilly lingerie-like lace along the edges. Wednesday, January 9, 2008. Monday, January 7, 2008. Four Fishermen in the Sand. 100 Wizards and a Witch. Is also the only way that they are able to c...
Kings County Bop: January 2011
http://kingscountybop.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html
Lollygaggings of Brooklyn's Sinust. Monday, January 31, 2011. The Victory on State and Hoyt is closed. I'm wondering if the block is cursed since Kili shut down recently too. Sarcastic signs on the door window is trying to drive traffic to Building on Bond, that is taking on the V staff. You can still get coffee at the Little Sweet Cafe. On the block (truly miniature), but V was pretty fun and I'll be sure to have a coffee for the Victory.at.eh ra.the Little Sweet. The Living End - Prisoner of Society.
Stubble Trouble: February 2008
http://stubbletrouble.blogspot.com/2008_02_01_archive.html
Tuesday, February 12, 2008. Super Mario as Quantum Theoretician and 9/11 Conspirator. Here's a video of someone's 134 superimposed playthroughs of a particularly difficult level of Mario World:. You can read (though I didn't) a related 2,400-word essay called "Super Mario World vs. the Many-Worlds Interpretation of Quantum Physics". And here's a video I acquired from a 25-year-old Japanese girl's cell phone (click on the image to watch 3 seconds of animation):. Friday, February 1, 2008. And she said "Chi...
Stubble Trouble: September 2007
http://stubbletrouble.blogspot.com/2007_09_01_archive.html
Friday, September 28, 2007. This thing mesmerizes me every time I go to the supermarket. Yuki confirms that Japanese children would have no idea what the oft-repeated slogan "three a day" means. I tracked down the full-length versions of the entire 3 video dairy aisle rotation. The second one's pretty catchy. One day the produce aisle was featuring a live-action music video about bean sprouts, but I didn't have my camera with me. Wednesday, September 26, 2007. Our Toilet is Awesome. Lastly, when the seat...
Stubble Trouble: October 2007
http://stubbletrouble.blogspot.com/2007_10_01_archive.html
Tuesday, October 30, 2007. A Review of Weapons and Accessories from The Legend of Zelda. I like how Link starts his mission without any weapons at all, and has to make an effort, albeit extremely minimal, to acquire his first item. I can't help wondering, though: Wouldn't it be more interesting if he had to navigate his way past a few enemies without a sword, or even his first shield? Additionally, the sword's throwing function gives Link a great incentive to maintain full life energy at all costs. This ...
The Ramen Shaman: Things I've forgotten to blog about
http://naturesjacket.blogspot.com/2010/10/things-ive-forgotten-to-blog-about.html
Tuesday, October 5, 2010. Things I've forgotten to blog about. Instead of going to bumbershoot or PAX I went to this shitty renaissance festival near my house. I started doing a lot of western blots. Played a settlers of catan expansion pack (wish I had time to play more). Went to San Francisco for 9/11. Ate more pho and kogi tacos. Got this beer for $3 at an annoying new vegan bar. Had this delicious PB&J icecream cone on one of the last warm days. Then later that night went to Carl Craig.

The Ramen Shaman: Well let's see what happened
http://naturesjacket.blogspot.com/2011/01/well-lets-see-what-happened.html
Thursday, January 6, 2011. Well let's see what happened. We made this christmas card, but I'm not sure any of us ever sent it out. Sold a bunch of crap on craigslist in anticipation of moving in w Erin. A hit'mon' from portland brought me viso in a bottle, I felt really leet drinking them but no one cared. Some boring shit happened in the lab. The power went out and everyone was grumbling on a dark and frozen winter afternoon. Later that night, santa became a forced meme in fremont. Eat Shit and Die.
The Ramen Shaman: seasons change, mad things rearrange
http://naturesjacket.blogspot.com/2010/12/seasons-change-mad-things-rearrange.html
Saturday, December 11, 2010. Seasons change, mad things rearrange. But it all stays the same like the love doctor strange. On a very cold day I contemplated Mayor McCheese's recommendation. And then it snowed and it took me a while to realize the bus wasn't going to come. So I hauled ass to a warmer state where Four Loko remained available. Followed a recipe out of a newspaper for ginger creme brule. Had some coffee after another round of deserts. Recovered the next day with chick-fil-a. Eat Shit and Die.
The Ramen Shaman
http://naturesjacket.blogspot.com/2010/11/dressed-up-as-spaceman-went-to-space.html
Saturday, November 6, 2010. Dressed up as a spaceman. Went to space-aged cider town. Sat on the floor and wrote space music. Then later i got stuck behind some police chief's funeral. This girl with weird green things in her hair didn't like me taking her picture. So i got out and walked. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). MEAT, CHEESE AND EVERYTHING IN BETWEEN. Floating Robes
Annie, are you okay? Would you like to buy my stories, sonny? January 29, 2013. Floating Robes Interview with A Serious Writer! My apologies, Laurence Stern (1713-1768)! So, hello, we are here today with A Serious Writer. He's known for his frankly limited and indecipherable body of work such as ' My toenail clippings are stuck in the sink! And ' I wish I had my Rambuttan shaven years ago. First of all, why do you insist on being A Serious Writer? Why not use your real name? You know, man, I am God, some...

Tuesday, June 25, 2013. The Limits of Academic Feminism. I was musing on the annoying (and often oppressive) nature of many academy-educated feminists after a dear friend came to me ranting about the antics of a mutual acquaintance. This isn't uncommon. Look at any syllabus for a survey feminist theory course and you'll find pretty much the same format:. First Wave Feminism - Susan B. Anthony, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, suffrage, and a white lady's account of Sojourner Truth. Third Wave Feminism - Really ju...
