The Need for Transcribers in the world of Archival Digitization. A digitized record at the Smithsonian Institute in need of transcription. Think about what happens when you take hundreds of photos from a long vacation. If all of the files are loaded with the generic labeling that a computer/camera assigns, the photos become unsearchable. This is where transcription becomes enormously important! So what can you do? Currently, I am working on a transcription project at George Washington’s Mount Vernon.
