Algiers Folk Art Zone and Blues Museum. Saturday November 12, 2016 11 am – 5 pm. Join the Algiers Folk Art Zone and Blues Museum for its fifth annual Algiers Folk Art Festival. A showcase of regional folk art, the FREE event will feature artists’ tents, live musical entertainment, food-truck concessions, and kids’ activities. Musical performers include legendary blues guitarist Little Freddie King. Zydeco/blues musician Bruce Sunpie Barnes. Bob Green, and kids music by the Confetti Park Players.

Algiers Folk Art Zone and Blues Museum. Born in New Orleans in 1945, Charles Gillam is a self-taught woodcarver and mixed-media artist. Using salvaged furniture, architectural elements, and Mississippi River driftwood, Gillam fashions the likenesses of many of the city’s legendary musicians as well as vibrant scenes from its iconic jazz funerals and second line parades.
