Food for a month: a documentary. With a month off work, Marika tracks everything she eats. (Names [but not first initials] have been changed to protect family members.). Saturday, July 16, 2005. The kids are showered and ready to go by noon, so we have lunch at the Calico Cupboard, their favorite breakfast spot. I get the salad which has sunflower seeds strewn over it, giving it a retro-taste. A few M&Ms are needed to fortify us for our hike and spelunking adventure. Posted by Marilynn at 7:38 AM.

Food for a month: a documentary. With a month off work, Marika tracks everything she eats. (Names [but not first initials] have been changed to protect family members.). Friday, July 22, 2005. Technical problems today with photos - not downloading properly. Nothing much interesting, anyway. I didn't know how many kids were spending the night, so for breakfast, I made muffins as well as biscuits. Orzo-vegetable-feta salad was on the menu for dinner and I made it early enough to have some for lunch.

Saturday, August 19, 2006. Mint Ice Cream Dessert. Food snobs laugh at this dessert, and choose the tiramisu, but then end up sampling this and loving it. Helping to demonstrate the creation of this delicious summer dessert (perfect for your weekend barbecue) is Daniel, from Holland. He can't wait to try it when he gets home. Unfortunately they do not have Oreos in Holland. And they do not have mint chip ice cream. 1 package of Oreo Cookies. 1 cube butter or margarine. 65 Daniel added a Dutch-touch to th...

Sunday, July 17, 2005. It would not be a summer get-together without Dan’s famous guacamole. Start this half an hour before the guests arrive. First choose the music for the event. Musicals are preferred perhaps a Gershwin production or a Gilbert and Sullivan operetta, or Oklahoma, or possibly Frank Sinatra or Eartha Kitt. Have the music playing while you make this. 1/4 to 1/3 of a medium sized white onion. Generous handful of cilantro. 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon sea salt. One tomato, cut into very small pieces.
