Adapted from a cousin's family recipe. 1 can sweetened condensed milk. 1 1/2 cups corn syrup. 1/8 ounce anise flavoring. 1/2 t black food coloring paste. This takes about 30 minutes and you need to stir it the entire time. Bring all ingredients through salt to a boil in a large nonstick saucepan over medium heat. Keep at a rolling boil until 240˚F.

They took us to a restaurant we had never been to before, and insisted that we try "Mo's Chop Chop Salad." It quickly became a favorite. I made a handful of take-out orders for the salad. Recipe from The Barefoot Contessa. 4 to 5 pounds broccoli. 4 garlic cloves, peeled and thinly sliced. 1 1/2 teaspoons kosher salt. 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper. 2 teaspoons grated lemon zest. 2 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice. 3 tablespoons pine nuts, toasted. 2 large eggs, beaten.

Russell and Lauren Patch. Monday, February 11, 2008. Our move to the Big Apple. After our two-week-long honeymoon:) in Utah and Spokane, we finally decided to get back to real life. Thanks to Katie and Kurt we had a place to stay until we could move into our first apartment in New York City. We packed our car and went to Costco, then headed out! We had such a small apartment we were afraid that all that stuff in our little car wouldn't fit in the apartment. Welcome to our very first apartment!

You know it's bad when the guy is looking up blogs about how to get good deals on groceries. We really need jobs! I went with him last week and this is how I felt when we left the store:. Here's what we got:. 2 boxes of Kashi cereal, 2 boxes of Kashi granola bars, 1 box of Kashi waffles, plastic cups, and travel size lotion and band-aids. For a grand total of $1.45! Saturday, August 11, 2012. Day at the Zoo. One day in June I took my niece with a friend from work and her little girl to the zoo. It was a fun day filled with"ooo, they're so cute" comments :). This gorilla is actually really weird, but you can't go to the zoo without a picture taken by it. Fortunately for us, we were lucky enough to take A LOT of pictures here! Here is my friend's little girl and my niece (5 months apart) - smiling at the same time which is always somewhat miraculous. Day at the Zoo.

Sunday, March 30, 2014. Spring Break - Grandma's Surprise. They were thrilled. It was a quick visit - Tuesday evening to Friday morning - because she was really just stopping by to say HI on her way to Tampa for a race. But we enjoyed the time we got! Tuesday evening she got to watch Dylan at Baseball practice. Then Wednesday morning we met some friends and some of her old nursery kids for a little playgroup to feed the goats. We played lots of games. It was a wonderful surprise for their Spring Break 3.

Sunday, December 28, 2014. Christmas Eve we went to a Candlelight Christmas Eve service at the small chapel on Base. We didn't have much of a Christmas Eve dinner to speak of since we were leaving town the next morning. But it was a nice evening. And then the kids went to bed. And then the kids woke up :).
